MBA에도 대세라는 것이 있지요! 솔직히 MBA뿐만이 아니라 전반적인 학문에서 스탠포드는 빠르게 세계 탑을 유지하고 있는 것 같습니다. 미국 캘리포니아 팔로알토에 있는 스탠포드대학교 비즈니스 스쿨은 그래서 더욱 인기가 많고 입학하기가 어려운 것 같습니다. 그럼 세계최고의 비즈니스 스쿨인 Stanford MBA의 2016학년도 입학지원일정부터 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

스탠포드MBA의 1라운드 지원마감일은 9월 22일입니다. 그리고 2라운드는 다른 MBA보다 일주일 늦은 1월 12일 마감을 하고 3라운드는 다른 탑MBA 처럼 4월 5일 마감을 합니다. 입학지원마감일과 합격자 발표일이 어찌 그리 비슷한지. 스탠포드MBA를 목표하는 분들은 하버드, 콜롬비아, 유펜등도 같이 지원하기에 동시에 지원을 하면 됩니다. 12월 되면 당락의 여부에 따라서 희비가 엇갈리겠죠!

다음은 에세이에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다. 스탠포드MBA의 에세이 질문은 알애와 같이 두개입니다.

Essays

Essays help us learn about who you are rather than solely what you have done. Other parts of the application give insight to your academic and professional accomplishments; the essays reveal the person behind those achievements.

When writing your essays, resist the urge to “package” yourself into what you think Stanford wants to see. Doing so will only prevent us from understanding who you really are and what you hope to accomplish. The most impressive essays are the most authentic.

Essay Questions

We request that you write two personal essays. The personal essays give us glimpses of your character and hopes. In each essay, we want to hear your genuine voice. Think carefully about your values, passions, aims, and dreams prior to writing them.

Essay A: What matters most to you, and why?

For this essay, we would like you to:

• Focus on the “why” rather than the “what.”
• Do some deep self-examination, so you can genuinely illustrate who you are and how you came to be the person you are.
• Share the insights, experiences, and lessons that shaped your perspectives, rather than focusing merely on what you’ve done or accomplished.
• Write from the heart, and illustrate how a person, situation, or event has influenced you.

Essay B: Why Stanford?

Enlighten us on how earning your MBA at Stanford will enable you to realize your ambitions.

• Explain your decision to pursue graduate education in management.
• Explain the distinctive opportunities you will pursue at Stanford.

Length

Your answers for both essay questions combined may not exceed 1,150 words. Each of you has your own story to tell, so please allocate these words between the essays in the way that is most effective for you. Below is a suggested word count, based on what we typically see.

• Double-spaced
• Indicate the question you are answering at the beginning of each essay (does not count toward the word limit)

에세이 설명에도 있듯이 후보자의 솔직한 이야기를 듣고자 합니다. 솔직한 이야기라 함은 에세이를 도와주는 그런 전문적인 기관의 기계에서 뽑아내는 것 같은 그런 에세이가 아니라 후보자의 진솔한 생각, 무엇이 가장 자신에게 중요한 것인지?, 그리고 왜 그런지? 또 왜 스탠포드인지를 솔직하고 진솔하게 담아내야 합니다. 첫째에세이는 750단어, 두번째 에세이는 400단어입니다. 이 한정된 단어로 입학사정위원회에 좋은 이미지를 주어야 합니다.

일단 스탠포드MBA의 영어점수기준은 하버드보다는 마음을 편안하게 해줍니다. 하버드는 IBT 109점, IELTS 7.5이상이야 하는데 반하여 스탠포드MBA는 IBT 100점,PBT 600점, IELTS 7.0이 최저 점수입니다. 물론 후보자의 IBT평균성적은 112점입니다. GMAT은 732점이 평균입니다. 이렇게 뛰어난 성적과 커리어를 가지고 도전해야 410명의 학생이 될 수가 있습니다. 우리나라 후보자들의 건승을 기원하며 반달곰원장이 서포터즈로서 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠습니다.
