오늘은 시카고대학교 Booth Executive MBA 홍콩캠퍼스의 서울 Information session에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다. 보통 10년정도의 직장 경력과 상당한 커리어를 가진 분들을 대상으로 제공하는 MBA프로그램이 Executive MBA 입니다. 일부 사람들은 Executive Education에서 제공하는 최고경여자과정과 햇갈려서 MBA학위가 아니라고 이야기하는데 그것은 잘못 알고 있는 것입니다. Executive MBA도 엄연한 정식 MBA 학위입니다.
그런 Executive MBA를 잘 운영하고 있는 학교중에 하나가 바로 시카고에 있는 명문 시카고대학교 Booth MBA입니다. Chicago Booth MBA는 시카고, 런던 그리고 홍콩에서 Executive MBA Program을 제공하고 있습니다. 매년 6월에 시작하는 Executive MBA는 21개월 과정이고 17개 course를 이수해야 합니다. 3개에서 5개의 선택과정들이 있는데 그 과정들은 다음과 같습니다.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES
Your application must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. local time on the day of the deadline in order to be considered for an application round. Applications submitted after a deadline will automatically be considered in the next round, as long as all materials are included with the application.

얼리라운드는 10월 2일이고, 1라운드는 12월 1일, 2라운드는 2월 1일, 마지막 3라운드는 4월 1일입니다. 밤 11:59분까지 들어온 서류를 인정해주니 일정에 맞추어서 지원하길 바랍니다. Application checklist는 다른 MBA들과 같습니다. 그럼 에세이 질문에 대해서 알아보도록 하겠습니다.
ESSAYS
Below are the essay questions for this year's Executive MBA application.
1. Why are you seeking an MBA from Chicago Booth and what unique knowledge and experiences do you hope to contribute to the program? (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
2. OPTIONAL: If there is anything else you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you, please share that information here. (maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. Times New Roman)
3. REAPPLICANTS onLY: Please give us an update on your professional, academic, and community activities since your previous application and highlight what you have done to strengthen your application. (maximum one page, single spaced, 12pt. Times New Roman)
필수에세이 질문은 왜 시카고Booth 에서 MBA를 추구하는가? 그리고 당신은 MBA프로그램에 기여하기 위해서 어떤 특별한 지식과 경험을 바라고 있는가?에 대해서 12pt로 2 페이지이내에 작성하면 됩니다. optional은 다른 학교와 똑같습니다. Executive MBA는 솔직히 에세이도 중요하지만 추천서가 매우 중요합니다. 아무래도 커리어가 있는 분들의 과정이다 보니 추천해주는 분들의 평가가 중요시 되는 것입니다. Chicago Booth Executive MBA 추천인은 두명이 필요합니다. 추천서에 대한 정보는 아래와 같습니다.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
We ask that all applicants submit two letters of recommendation. These letters provide the Admissions Committee with additional information about your accomplishments, personal character, and potential for success in a graduate business program.
The Admissions Committee requires that one of your two letters come from a current supervisor or manager. The remaining letter may come from (but is not limited to) a professional colleague, a faculty member, or a business partner.
FORM
The letter of recommendation form is available electronically through the online application system in the "Letters of Recommendation" section. once you access that system, you will be asked to provide the names and email addresses of your recommenders. They will then get an email message providing them with the link to the online form.
Chicago Booth recognizes that your recommenders are very busy people and as a result we have provided some targeted topics and questions for them to focus on to help both us and them get the most out of their recommendation.
Your recommenders will be asked to measure your skills in each of the following areas:
- Works collaboratively with others
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills
- Takes time to understand and listen to others
- Demonstrates awareness of self and others
- Open to feedback and constructive criticism
- Displays initiative and self-motivation
- Shows intellectual curiosity
- Demonstrates confidence
- Makes the most out of situations, whether good or bad
Your recommenders will also be asked to provide answers to each of the following 5 requests:
- Please assess the applicant’s intellectual strength, judgment and creativity.
- Please assess the applicant’s ability to work effectively in groups.
- Please assess the applicant’s potential for assuming major management responsibilities.
- Please assess any professional limitations or areas of weakness in the applicant.
- Is there anything else you would like to share with us about the candidate in order to help us evaluate their candidacy?
시카고 Booth Executive MBA에는 FULL TIME MBA처럼 GMAT점수를 요구하나 경력이 12년이상이고 직급이 CEO, CFO, Managing director등의 인정할 수 있는 경력을 가지고 있으면 면제를 받을 수가 있습니다. 그리고 영어는 인터뷰를 바탕으로 평가하기에 따로 영어점수를 만들 필요는 없습니다. 그러므로 실제적으로는 점수없이도 커리어와 영어회화능력이 되는 분들은 충분히 지원하실 수 있습니다.
