오늘이 처서인데 확실히 피부에 느껴지는 바람의 온도가 달라졌습니다. 뜨거운 여름의 그것이 아니라 수줍은 가을의 모습을 한 따사로운 바람이 불어오네요. 이렇게 게절이 바뀌면 대학입시시험인 수능을 앞두고 있는 수험생과 그 부모들의 마음은 점점 긴장을 하게 됩니다. 그런데 수험생뿐만 아니라 정말 인생을 고민하고 MBA를 준비하는 분들도 마음이 급해집니다. 자신이 원하는 MBA에 지원하기 위해서는 GMAT점수를 만들어야하고 높여야 합니다. 그리고 영어기준 IBT점수 IELTS점수를 만들어야 하는데 마음이 급하다보니 무엇을 먼저해야 할지를 모르는 경우가 많습니다.
우리가 코끼리를 냉장고에 넣는 방법과 같이 하나씩 하나씩 준비하는 것이 좋습니다. IBT, IELTS준비를 마치고 GMAT을 만들수 있는데까지 만든 다음에 지원을 하는 것이 좋습니다. 모든 MBA들이 얼리라운드 또는 1라운드에서는 입학사정을 너그러이 하는 경향이 있기에 초기에 지원서를 넣는 것이 MBA합격여부에 중요한 관건입니다. 하버드, 스탠포드, 예일, 유펜등의 탑 MBA들의 1라운드 지원마감은 9월에 있습니다. 오늘이 23일이니 1라운드 지원하실 분들은 서두르셔야 합니다. 탑MBA준비 하는 분들중에서 빼놓지 않고 지원하는 MBA가 바로 MIT Sloan MBA입니다.
MIT Sloan MBA는 US News MBA랭킹에서는 5위를 차지한 MBA인데 그 입학지원일정을 살펴보고 그 다음에는 에세이 question등을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.
1라운드, 2라운드, 3라운드 마감일들을 보면 하버드MBA보다 약 1주일씩 늦는 것을 알 수가 있습니다. MIT MBA만의 전략이 있어서 그런 일정을 가져갈 것이라고 생각이 듭니다. 1라운드 지원하실려면 9월 17일까지 지원서를 제출하시길 바라겠습니다. 다음은 MIT Slaon MBA의 에세이 질문에 대해서 알아보겠습니다.
Essays
We have one required essay at the time of submission:
We are interested in learning more about how you work, think, and act. In your response, please describe in detail what you thought, felt, said, and did.
Question: Tell us about a recent success you had: How did you accomplish this? Who else was involved? What hurdles did you encounter? What type of impact did this have? (500 words or fewer).
A second, short-answer question will be asked only of those invited to interview:
The mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to develop principled, innovative leaders who improve the world and to generate ideas that advance management practice. Please share with us something about your past that aligns with this mission. (250 words or fewer).
Optional Question
The Admissions Committee invites you to share additional information about yourself, in any format. If you choose a multimedia format, please host the information on a website and provide us with the URL.
지원서 제출시 필요한 에세이는 딱 하나입니다. 질문내용은 이렇습니다. 당신의 가지고 있는 최근의 성공에 대해서 이야기하라. 그 성공을 어떻게 이루었는지? 다른 누가 관련되어있는지? 어떠한 장애, 어려움을 만났었는지? 이 성공은 어떤 형태의 영향력을 가지고 있었는지? 등을 논하는 것입니다. 그리고 인터뷰 초대 받는 후보자들은 추가로 짧은 답변을 요구하는 질문을 받을 것입니다.
그리고 추천서는 두분에게 받아야 합니다. 추천서는 반드시 온라인으로 제출해야 하는데 그 추천서에 담겨져야 할 내용과 참고할 사항은 아래와 같습니다.
Recommendations
MBA applicants must submit two letters of recommendation. Professional recommendations are preferred from individuals who are able to speak with certainty about your professional achievements and potential. Recommenders must submit recommendations online. We do not accept recommendations via the mail. Recommendations may be in either letter or short answer format and should not exceed two pages each. Please note: We do not accept recommendations from family members.
Please choose recommenders who are able to provide specific answers to the following questions:
- How long and in what capacity have you known the applicant?
- How does the applicant stand out from others in a similar capacity?
- Please give an example of the applicant's impact on a person, group, or organization.
- Please give a representative example of how the applicant interacts with other people.
- Which of the applicant's personal or professional characteristics would you change?
- If you are an academic/technical recommender, please tell us how well the applicant mastered the subject you taught or supervised and in what ways did the applicant demonstrate this mastery.
- Please tell us anything else you think we should know about this applicant.
