University of Maryland, College Park는 미국 매릴랜드주의 칼리지 파크에 위치한 공립 연구대학으로 1856년에 설립된 University of Maryland 시스템의 대표적인 대학입니다.

 

 

 

매릴랜드 주지사는 이번 코로나 바이러스가 확산되면서 한번 이슈가 된 적이 있는데요. 주지사의 부인이 한국인으로 마스크 대란속에서 마스크 공급에 있어 큰 도움을 줬다는 기사가 난 적이 있습니다. 한국에서 상당히 먼 지역이지만, 그 사건을 계기로 왠지 친숙하게 느껴지는 곳이 되었습니다. 조기 전형은 11월 1일까지, 일반전형은 1월 20일까지 원서를 제출해야 합니다.

 

 

 

UMD SAT/ACT Test-optonal

SAT, ACT, TOEFL이나 ILETS 성적을 포함한 공식적인 표준시험성적은 시험주관사에서 직접 학교로 발송될 수 있도록 해야 하며, 입학 신청 마감일 후에 수령하는 점수가 지원자의 입학심사를 위한 파일에 포함될지에 대해서는 보장을 하지 않으므로 반드시 날짜를 넘지 않도록 발송처리를 해야 합니다.

매릴랜드대학도 많은 수험생이 SAT나 ACT 시험을 제때에 보지 못할 상황을 이해하며, 2021년 봄학기와 가을학기 입학 전형에서 SAT/ACT 시험 성적 제출을 Optional로 한다고 발표했습니다.

 

 

 

As a result of the unprecedented disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, UMD recognizes that many students will not be able to access the SAT and ACT tests that are traditionally required in order to apply for admission. Therefore, UMD will be SAT/ACT optional for Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 applicants.

 

 

 

UMD Essays

 - Common Application : 650 단어 제한

1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
2. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
5. Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
6. Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
7. Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.

 

 

- Coalition Application : 550 단어제한

1. Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
2. Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was your focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of making your contribution.
3. Has there been a time when you’ve had a long-cherished or accepted belief challenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect your beliefs?
4. What is the hardest part of being a student now? What’s the best part? What advice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming they would listen to you)?
5. Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
