방문학자들은 FSU교수진이나 그들의 분야에서 일하는 교직원의 초대로 플로리다 주립대학교에 정해진 기간 동안 방문할 수 있습니다. 방문학자들의 연구와 창의적인 활동 분양서 교수진이나 교직원과 협력하여 일을 하게 됩니다. 이러한 활동은 학자와 FSU에게 모두 이익이 되어야 합니다. 이러한 활동은 전세계의 광범위한 혁신으로 교수진을 최신 상태로 유지하고, 추가적인 연구 협력을 위한 인맥을 구축하며, 대학과 프로그램의 범위와 인식을 향상시키며, FSU 학생들이 다른 문화와 공통 과제에 대한 접근 방법에 대해 배울 수 있는 계기가 됩니다.
국내 또는 해외 방문학자로 FSU에 방문학자로 가는 것에 관심이 있다면, 첫 번째 단계는 방문 기간 동안 협력하고, 호스트 역할을 해 줄 교수진과 공통 연구 관심사를 파악하는 것입니다. 지원자는 교수진에게 직접 연락하여 방문 학자로서 FSU에 오는 것이 본인과 FSU의 교수진에게 상호 이익이 되는 것에 대해 논의하게 됩니다. 초청 절차는 FSU의 호스트 교수에 의해 시작됩니다.
방문학자는 연구 제안이나 활동 범위에서 확인된 연구 혹은 학술 활동에 참여하게 되는데, 이는 신청서에 명시된 항목을 잘 확인해서 체크해야 합니다.
FSU의 방문학자는 상호 이익이 되는 활동을 수행하기 위해 특정 시설, 기술 인프라와 서비스에 대한 접근을 허용 받습니다. FSU는 이런 사용 시간과 방식을 결정하는 권한을 갖고 있으며, 방문자는 FSU에 의해 결정된 대로 장비 사용 비용을 지불해야 할 수도 있습니다.
방문학자는 FSU에 있는 동안 FSU의 라이선스를 받은 디지털 출판물, 데이터, 정보, 소프트웨어 등에 접근을 할 수 있습니다. FSU에 있는 동안에만 이러한 자료를 사용할 수 있으며, 방문자의 활동 및 FSU의 연관성과 관련하여 필요한 한도에만 사용 가능합니다.
방문학자는 의사소통이 원활해야 하므로 영어 실력을 검증해야 하며, 이것은 방문학자가 관련 영어 성적이나 관련 서류를 제출하면서 증명 가능합니다. 충분한 영어 실력을 보여주는 서류를 제공하지 못한다면, FSU에 J-1 신분으로 갈 수 없습니다.

This letter serves to invite you to be a Visiting Scholar in the Department of XXXXX at Florida State University from (month/day/year) to (month/day/year). I will serve as your faculty host and I am very interested in your research plan, entitled, “XXX”.
We understand that required funding to cover your expenses during this visit will be covered by XXXXXX (list home institution, scholarship or personal funds). (NOTE to include to inviting faculty member: If all personal funds are to be used to show required support for a J-1 visa, the visit is limited to one year).
You will need to confirm that you have the required English proficiency required for participation as a J-1 visiting scholar. Please see the various options for meeting this requirement at https://global.fsu.edu/sites/g/files/upcbnu531/files/Documents/FSU_EnglishProficiency.pdf. The J-1 program also requires participants to have health insurance for the duration of the J-1 program for scholars and any accompanying dependents, see https://cge.fsu.edu/scholars-employees/insurance.
We will work with you and the Center for Global Engagement at Florida State University to obtain the immigration document (DS2019) needed to apply for a J-1 visa for your visit. This invitation is contingent upon your eligibility for the J-1 visa status as determined by the Center for Global Engagement, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. As a Visiting Scholar at FSU, you will have library privileges, and use of office space in XXXXX as well as access to XXXX lab == if applicable. Access will be provided to you at no cost.
