안녕하세요, 반달곰원장입니다.
오늘은 어느 분이 오랜만에 CSU East Bay의 1년MBA에 대해서 문의를 해서 반달곰원장이 답변을 드렸는데 조금은 자세히 알려드릴 필요가 있을 것 같아서 이렇게 글을 올립니다. 우리가 보통 CSUEB라고 부르는 이 주립대학교는 캘리포니아주립대 CSU계열중의 하나입니다. 반달곰원장이 공부하였던 UC Berkeley와 가까운 오클랜드에서 MBA공부를 하게 됩니다.
그런데 UC계열이나 CSU계열은 보통은 MBA프로그램에서 GMAT점수를 요구하는데 CSUEB 1년MBA는 직장경력에 따라서 GMAT을 면제해줍니다. 그럼 기본적인 CSUEB 1 Year MBA Admission criteria에 대해서 살펴보겠습니다.
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
The following are department requirements for admission into the one-Year MBA Program :
An undergraduate degree with a 2.5 Grade Point Average (or equivalent)
TOEFL for international students
Applicants with less than 5 years of work experience— GMAT required
Applicants with 5 years or more work experience— No GMAT required
입학조건중에 학점도 자비로운 2.5이상만을 요구하고 있습니다. 그리고 직장경력 5년이상이면 GMAT면제, 아니면 GMAT점수를 제출해야합니다. 물론 풀타임 직장경력이라고 보셔야 합니다. 그럼 1년에 40명으로 인원을 제한 하고 있는 CSUEB MBA가 본인에게 맞는 프로그램인지 그 특징을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

위에서 보시면 CSUENB MBA는 가장 저명한 인증인 AACSB인증을 받았습니다. 그리고 미국에서 ROI랭킹에서 전체 3위를 차지할 정도로 학비가 경제적이면서 우수한 퀄리티를 보여주고 있구요, 1년MBA전체의 학비는 불과 29800달러에 불과 합니다. 시카고에 있는 UIC MBA보다도 저렴합니다. UIC MBA의 경우는 학교입학해서 내는 비용가지 하면 3만5천달러에 가가운 학비를 내야 합니다. 그리고 중국 학생들과 공부하는 것이지요.
그러나 CSUEB MBA는 당연히 미국학생들과 국제학생들과 같이 공부를 합니다. 그리고 금요일과 토요일 낮시간에 집중적으로 공부하기에 다른 평일을 이용하여 일을 할 수가 있습니다. 그것도 학비 및 경비를 줄일 수 있는 방법입니다. 소규모의 학생수로 교수들이 학생들을 챙겨주며 그리고 취업을 하는데 많은 도움을 줍니다.
이런 CSUEB MBA에 입학지원하기 위해서는 바로 지원서를 제출하는 것이 아니고 아래와 같은 스텝을 거쳐야 합니다. 불편할 수도 편할 수 있는 시스템이라고 할 수가 있습니다. 반달곰원장은 개인적으로 좋다고 생각합니다. 미리 스크린해서 내가 좋은 후보자인지 인정을 받고 지원할 경우 합격여부에 대한 전망을 더 쉽게 할 수 있거든요.
1. Pre-Admission Survey
Take five minutes to get a fast start on your application by completing our brief pre-admission survey – this will just take a few minutes and it really speeds up the process.
2. Personal Interview
If you have completed a pre-admission survey, you will be contacted by the fulltimeMBA@csueastbay.edu email address and we will work with you to book an interview if you qualify for the program (face-to-face or by Skype when necessary for international students).
3. Apply online to the University
Complete an online application to the University through Cal State Apply. Most people do this after they have been interviewed. The interview forms the basis for the admission decision. We can tell you the odds of being admitted before you apply online!
4. English Proficiency, transcripts and GMAT (the GMAT can be waived if you have 5 years of work experience)
Assuming the interview has gone well, we will guide you through any details that might be required to formally complete your application. Anna Towers will guide you through these steps.
