오늘 소개할 대학은 Arizona State University의 Thunderbird School of Global Management입니다. ASU의 경영 스쿨인 Thunderbird School of Global Management의 경우, 모체는 1946년 4월 8일에 아리조나주 글렌데일에 설립된 American Institute for Foreign Trade (AIFT)인데, 이 부지는 세계대전 당시 세계에서 온 조종사를 훈련하는 장소로 사용되었던 공군기지 Thunderbird Field라는 이름 때문에 추후 비즈니스 스쿨의 이름으로 사용되게 되었습니다. 국제 무역 및 글로벌 관계에 대한 교육을 할 목적으로 학교가 설립된 이후로 같은 열정으로 오늘날까지 세계적인 교수진과 함께 글로벌 경영 교육을 제공하고 있는데요. 1955년까지는 Bachelor of Foreign Trade와 Master for Foreign Trade밖에는 없었다고 합니다. 수년에 걸쳐 BA 과정은 사라지고, Master 프로그램에 변화를 주어 MIM, MBA in Global Management, 온라인 MBA, Executive MBA, Master of Arts in Global Affairs & Management 등을 제공하게 되었습니다. 수년간 국제 경영으로는 꾸준히1위에 랭크되어 있으며, 국제 경영 교육에서 세계적인 입지를 구축해 왔습니다.

Thunderbird에는 Business English Communication 프로그램이 있는데, 대학원 프로그램에 입학하기에는 영어 실력이 부족한 학생들을 위해 디자인된 과정으로 한 세션에 8주 과정으로 진행됩니다. 2세션 이상 입학에 필요한 영어 점수는 IELTS 6.5로 2018년 봄학기 앞서 2917년 8월 15일 시작해서 2세션을 하는 경우 12월에 마치는 과정이라고 볼 수 있습니다.
