오늘은 반달곰원장이 홍콩으로 날아갑니다. 그 동안 홍콩MBA를 컨설팅 할 때 HKUST MBA, HKU MBA, CUHK MBA만을 주로 설명을 드려왔었습니다. 그래서 오늘은 이 명문대학교외에 제4의 명문대학교라고 할 수 있는 City University of Hong Kong CityU에 대해서 말씀드리고자 합니다. CityU 는 홍콩 Kowloon 에 위치한 공립대학교입니다. 1984년에 City Polytechnic of Hong Kong이라는 이름으로 설립되었고 1994년에 완전히 인증이 되었습니다. CityU는 학위를 제공하는 정부 펀딩의 여덟개 대학교중의 하나입니다.

CityU는 QS World University Ranking에서 세계49위에 랭크되었고, CityU의 College of Business 는 특히 그 훌륭함으로 유명합니다. 그 College of Business는 US News and World Report에 의한 랭킹에서 세계 57위, 그리고 아시아 2위에 오릅니다. 또 UTD Top 100 Business School Research Ranking 에서 세계 33위, 아시아 2위에 랭크됩니다. 이 정도로 CityU College of Business이 뛰어난 성적들을 보이고 있습니다.

그래서 반달곰원장은 오늘 CityU College of Business 의 대표 프로그램인 MBA프로그램에 대해서 안내해드리겠습니다. CityU MBA는 1년동안 Core Course 공부를 하고 2년차에 concentration을 위한 선택과목과 exchange 또는 internship을 하게 됩니다. 그럼 어떤 concentration을 제공하는지 알아보겠습니다.

그러면 CityU MBA 입학지원을 위한 지원조건들을 구체적으로 살펴보겠습니다.

Admissions Requirements

When evaluating an application, we consider various factors (including academic achievements, professional experiences, and personal accomplishments) from a holistic perspective:  

·       An applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with an acceptable GPA, or equivalent.

·       Relevant work experience is desirable (though not specifically required).   

·       An applicant is expected to have a satisfactory GMAT score (which can be submitted after the application). For applicants with substantial years of work experience, the GMAT requirement may be waived on a case-by-case basis.

·       All shortlisted applicants are required to attend an interview.

English Proficiency Requirement

Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should also fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

·       a score of TOFEL 79 (iBT) or 550 (PBT); or

·       an overall band score of 6.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); or

·       score 450 in the new College English Test (CET6) of Chinese mainland or a pass in the old CET-6 test; or

·       other equivalent qualifications

위의 조건들을 살펴보면 GMAT점수를 요구하고 있고, 좋은 것은 직장경력등이 갖추어지면 GMAT면제를 추진할 수가 있습니다. 그리고 영어조건은 IBT 79, PBT 550 IELTS 6.5이상을 요구하고 있습니다. 다른 홍콩MBA들에 비해서 입학지원 조건들이 쉬운 편입니다. 그러면 CityU MBA의 학비를 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

위의 학비를 살펴보면, General MBA 인 경우 학비는 HK$304,000이고 concentration을 하나로 할 경우 HK$372,400, 2개일 경우는 HK$440,800 입니다. 홍콩MBA의 학비는 여전히 저렴하지 않고 상당히 부담스럽습니다.
