오늘은 반달곰원장이 워싱턴DC로 넘어갑니다. 미국 워싱턴DC로 MBA를 가고자하는 분들은 어디로 가야 할 까요? 보통 선호하는 곳들은 조지타운대학교 McDonough School of Business 와 조지워싱턴대학교 MBA일 것입니다. 물론 그외에도 다른 좋은 대학교들이 많지만 오늘은 랭킹도 가장 높고 명문비즈니스스쿨로 한국 직장인들에게 인기가 있는 McDonough MBA에 대해서 말씀을 드리겠습니다. 그럼 대표적인 랭킹들을 살펴보면서 시작하도록 하겠습니다.

1라운드 마감은 10월 10일입니다. 그리고 2라운드는 1월 5일 마감을 하는데 학교에서는 2라운드에 지원을 완료해주기를 희망하고 있습니다. 그리고 국제학생들도 비자수속등의 문제가 있기에 2라운드까지 지원해주기를 바라고 있습니다. 이런 일정에 맞추어서 지원할 서류는 다른 학교와 비슷합니다. 추천서만 2명이 아니라 1명한테 받으면 됩니다. 그리고 중요한 에세이 질문은 아래와 같습니다.
We want to hear your story. When responding to our required essays, be authentic and take time to reflect on your goals and past experiences. Craft a response that explains how these experiences led you to pursue an MBA.
- Essay one: Please answer the following essay question in 500 words or less: “Describe a defining moment when you were challenged and exceeded expectations.” The moment can be a professional or personal one. If personal, then please also include how it had an impact on your professional development.
- Video Essay: We ask that you introduce yourself to your cohort in one minute or less. The Admissions Committee would like for you to appear in person during part of your video, and we strongly encourage you to speak outside of the experiences we can read on your resume. Use this video as an opportunity to bring life to your application. Please upload it to an accessible website (such as Youtube, Vimeo, Youku, or Tudou), and submit the direct video URL into your online application. - Optional Essay one: If you are not currently employed full-time, use this essay to provide information about your current activities. (250 words or fewer)
- Optional Essay Two: Please provide any information you would like to add to your application that you have not otherwise included. (500 words or fewer)
위의 질문에서 보면 에세이는 필수질문이 하나이고, 옵션으로는 에세이 2개를 더 작성할 수가 있습니다. 그리고 비디오에세이가 있습니다. MIT처럼 비디오에세이를 작성해야 하는데 1분 정도의 분량이면 됩니다. 1분 분량이지만 그 안에 무엇을 담을지 생각해보면 쉽지가 않습니다. 재미있는 것은 레쥬메상의 들어 있는 내용보다는 그 외의 내용에 대해서 언급하기를 학교에서는 바라고 있습니다.
그리고 영어는 토플 IBT 100, PBT 600, CBT 250, 그리고 IELTS는 7.5를 요구하고 있습니다. 다른 학교보다도 IELTS점수가 상당히 높습니다.
