오늘 청주와 천안에 엄청난 비가 내려서 수해를 많이 입었습니다. 직접 수해를 입어 본 적은 없었지만 TV로만 봐도 감당이 안되던데 직접 당하신 분들은 얼마나 마음이 아프고 슬피시겠습니까? 빨리 수습하고 희망을 가지시길 바라겠습니다.
오늘은 반달곰원장이 뉴욕의 명문사립대학교 New York University Stern Business School에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다. NYU Stern MBA에는 Part Time MBA도 있지만 우리 직장인들이 가장 관심을 많이 가지고 있는 풀타임MBA에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다. 우리가 보통 많이 지원하는 2년MBA인 Full Time MBA와 1년MBA 인 Tech MBA와 Fashion & Luxury MBA 가 있는데 1년MBA에 대해서는 우리가 잘 모르는 것 같습니다. 그럼 기본적으로 MBA프로그램에 대해서 정리하고 넘어가겠습니다.

위에서 볼 수 있는 것처럼 풀타임MBA와 1년MBA과정으로 나누어져 있는데 시작시점이 가을과 5월 입학으로 나누어 집니다. 이런 시작 시점이 다르기에 입학지원일정도 다릅니다. 그럼 먼저 3개 MBA프로그램의 입학지원일정을 살펴보겠습니다.

풀타임MBA 1차라운드지원마감은 10월 15일이고 2라운드는 1월 15일, 3라운드 마지막라운드 마감일은 3월 15일입니다. 그리고 Tech MBA와 Fashion & Luxury MBA의 입학지원 1라운드는 9월 15일에 마감하고 마지막라운드 마감일은 11월 15일입니다. 풀타임MBA보다 1개월 정도 빨리 진행이 됩니다. 그러므로 지금이 7월 중순이므로 NYU Stern MBA 1년과정인 Tech MBA와 Fashion & Luxury MBA에 지원하고자 하는 분들은 서둘러 준비하시길 바랍니다.
그럼 이 일정에 맞추어서 준비해야 할 것은 무엇일까요? 다른 MBA처럼 GMAT, 토플, 또는 IELTS점수등을 준비해야 하고 지원서작업을 해야 합니다. 이 중에서 가장 중요한 에세이질문 부분을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다. 에세이 질문은 풀타임 MBA와 1년MBA모두 똑같이 적용이 됩니다.

Our Stern essay questions give you the opportunity to more fully present yourself to the Admissions Committee and to provide insight into your experiences, goals, and thought processes.
Your essays must be written entirely by you. An offer of admission will be rescinded if you did not write your essays.

Essay 1: Professional Aspirations
(500 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)
- What are your short and long-term career goals?
- How will the MBA help you achieve them?
Essay 2: Program Preferences
NYU Stern offers a portfolio of MBA programs designed to meet the needs of our applicants. Your program preferences are very important as you will be admitted to only one program. You cannot switch your program option after receiving your admissions decision.
- A. Primary Program Preference (250 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)
- Please indicate the primary MBA program for which you would like to be considered, as indicated in the Primary Program Selection section of the application.
- Explain why the program you have selected is the best program for you.
- B. Alternative Program Preference(s) (250 word maximum, double-spaced, 12-point font)
- Please indicate any alternative program(s) for which you would also like to be considered, as indicated in the Alternative Program Selection section of the application and why you would also like to be considered for this/these program(s).
- An alternate program does not need to be selected. If you have no alternate programs you do not need to complete this essay, just indicate "N/A".
Essay 3: Personal ｅxpression (a.k.a. "Pick Six")
Describe yourself to the Admissions Committee and to your future classmates using six images and corresponding captions. Your uploaded PDF should contain all of the following elements:
- A brief introduction or overview of your "Pick Six" (no more than 3 sentences).
- Six images that help illustrate who you are.
- A one-sentence caption for each of the six images that helps explain why they were selected and are significant to you.
Note: Your visuals may include photos, infographics, drawings, or any other images that best describe you. Your document must be uploaded as a single PDF. The essay cannot be sent in physical form or be linked to a website.
Essay 4: Additional Information (optional)

위에서 볼 수 있는 것처럼 에세이질문들이 많습니다. 하버드나 다른 대학교가 에세이 질문을 줄이고 있는데 NYU Stern MBA는 질문수가 많습니다. 특히 마지막 에세이는 NYU Stern MBA만의 특별한 질문인데 Pick Six를 잘 고민하여 작성하여야 합니다. 그럼 마지막으로 NYU MBA 학비에 대해서 안내를 해드리겠습니다. 풀타임MBA의 1년학비는 USD69,086입니다. 2년이면 거의 14만달러에 육박합니다. 역시 세계 최고가의 MBA중에 하나입니다. 그리고 1년MBA 학비는 USD96,000입니다. 1년MBA임에도 역시 최고가수준의 학비를 보여 주고 있습니다.
