오늘은 반달곰원장이 노보텔행사에서 만난 University of Alabama at Birmingham UAB MBA에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다. UAB는 알라바마주에 있는 버밍험에 있는 주립대학교입니다. 1969년에 설립되었는데 알라바마주립대학교 3개 캠퍼스중에서 Tier 1 research 대학교이며, 미국 리서치 대학교중의 125위에 랭크되었습니다. 그리고 US News 전체 랭킹에서 159위에 랭크되어 있는 주립대학교로서 탑랭킹은 아니지만 실력 있고 학비가 저렴한 주립대학교이고 입학하기에 좋은 pathway프로그램도 가지고 있어서 관심을 많이 가지고 지켜 볼 필요가 있습니다.
학생 수는 18700여명이고 국제학생은 665명, 약 4%가 있습니다. Degree program으로는 Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Health Professions, Health Sciences, Nursing, Public Health등을 제공하고 많은 전공들을 제공하고 있지만 오늘은 반달곰원장이 UAB MBA에 대해서 안내를 해드리겠습니다. UAB MBA는 AACSB 인증을 받았고 MBA랭킹에서 89위에 랭크되었습니다. UAB MBA 입학지원은 1년에 3번 기회가 있는데 데드라인은 아래와 같습니다.
Fall Semester - 7월 1일/
Spring Semester- 11월 1일/
Summer Semester- 4월 1일
지금이 6월 21일이니 올 가을입학을 위한 지원서 제출할 수 있는 기간이 남아있습니다. 그러면 어떤 admission requirements 를 준비해야 하는지 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.
Required Documents
· Application form including 2 evaluation forms/letters of reference.
· Current resume detailing work experience.
· Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended sent directly by the Registrar or responsible head of the institution to the UAB Graduate School, 1720 2nd Ave. S., LHL G03, Birmingham, AL 35294-0013.
· GMAT score* sent directly from the testing agency. (it is recommended that you repeat the GMAT if score is below 480).
GMAT requirement may be waived for applicants with the following:
o Terminal degrees.
o Master degrees from regionally accredited institutions can substitute related standardized test score for GMAT requirement.
o 3-5 years of demonstrated professional work experience-
Additional Document Requirements for International Applicants only
· TOEFL IBT score of 80 or IELTS of 6.5.
위에서 볼 수 있는 것 처럼 GMAT점수가 필요하지만 경력이 3.5년이상이 있거나 석사학위등이 있으면 면제를 받을 수가 있습니다. 그리고 영어는 IBT 80, or IELTS 6.5이상을 받으면 통과입니다. 그런데 영어기준을 만족못하면 INTO UAB Pathway프로그램을 통해서 1학기, 2학기 도는 3학기를 공부하면 UAB MBA를 시작할 수가 있습니다. 학비는 1년에 17,640달러 이므로 2년MBA는 약 3만 5천달러 정도 됩니다. 명문주립대학교의 학비치고는 매우 경제적입니다. 그리고 INTO Pathway가 잘 되어 있어서 학생들이, 직장인들이 도전하기에 좋습니다. 특히나 가족들이 있는 경우는 생활비가 저렴하기에 더욱 좋은 조건일 수가 있습니다.
