안녕하세요! 반달곰원장입니다.





미국 펜실베니아의 Erie라는 작은 도시에는 1925년에 설립된 사립대학교 Gannon University가 있습니다. 한국분들은 아마 잘 모르실 것입니다. 솔직히 명문 MBA스쿨들도 귀에 익은 아이비리그 학교들만 알지 다른 학교들은 알지를 못할 것입니다. 이런 학교에 대한 편중 현상은 우리나라에서 매우 심합니다. 반달곰원장도 열심히 돌아다니면서 실속있는 좋은 학교들을 찾아내려고 하지만 여전히 그 존재감을 잘 모르는 학교들이 많습니다.





펜실베니아 Erie에 있는 Gannon University는 학부생들이 3200여명이 등록되어 있는 크지 않은 대학교입니다. 그러나 US News and World Report지 regional ranking 에서 North지역 58위를 차지한 나름 실력있는 대학교입니다. 이 대학교에는 아래와 같은 다양한 전공 과목들이 있습니다.

우리가 좋아하는 비즈니스 전공에서부터 의대에 진학하기 위한 Pre Medical, 그리고 약학을 전공하기 위한 Pre Phamacy등이 있습니다. 이렇게 다양한 학과들을 큰 무리없이, 높은 영어점수 요구조건없이 입학할 수가 있습니다. 그리고 학비가 저렴하기에 경제적인 부분을 고려하는 한국학생들에게는 좋은 선택이 될 것입니다. 그리고 한국이 없는 대학을 선호하는 경향들이 있는데 Gannon University는 한국 사람들에게 많이 알려지지 않아서 한국인 별로 없어서 공부하기에는 안성맞춤입니다. 영어실력은 자동으로 향상되겠지요. 아래는 Gannon University 에서 제공하는 석사과정을 정리한 것입니다.

이중에서 engineering, nursing, physical therapy 등은 매우 인기가 많습니다. 취업이 잘 되기 때문이지요! 그리고 인기 많은 전공은 바로 Gannon MBA입니다. MBA는 어느 학교에서나 인기가 많습니다. 그럼 Gannon University MBA의 입학조건을 아래와 같이 살펴 보도록 하겠습니다.





General Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university
  • A GMAT score (this requirement is waived for students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or higher). 
  • A completed application for admission
  • A completed resume
  • Official transcripts from all prior institutions
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL scores if English is not a first language





여기서 가장 중요한 것은 GMAT면제가 가능하다는 것과 영어점수 조건이 아래와 같다는 것입니다.





  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test) or 79 (iBT).
  • ELS Language Center level 112, or a minimum IELTS band score of 6.5 in lieu of TOEFL.
  •  A minimum Pearson Tests of English (PTE) score of 53. 
  • Completion of a four-year degree from an accredited U.S. university within the past year.
  • Successful completion of Gannon's English as a Second Language (ESL) progra






위의 점수를 만족시키지 못했을시에는 Gannon University의 부설어학원을 등록 하여 일정한 기간 영어실력을 향상시키고 입학 할 수 있는 조건부 입학 시스템이 갖추어져 있습니다. 그러므로 펜실베니아에서 실속있게 공부하실려면 영어 공부를 하시고 영어 점수가 나오지 않더라도 실망하지 마시고 대학부설어학원에서 열심히 영어공부를 한다음에 Gannon MBA나 다른전공들을 선택하시길 바라겠습니다.





그럼 학비를 안내해드리겠습니다. 학비는 학점당 940달러입니다. 비즈니스 기초가 있는 분들은 30학점을 이수하면 MBA학위를 받을 수가 있습니다 즉, 28200달러입니다. 그리고 기초가 없는 분들은 선수과목으로 18학점을 더 이수해야 합니다. 그럴 경우에 학비는 16920 달러가 더 늘어날 수가 있습니다. 선수과목을 더 해야 하는지는 반달곰원장에게 문의하시면 알려드릴 수가 있습니다. 그리고 장학금 제도도 잘 되어 있으니 많은 참고바랍니다.
