하스 비즈니스 스쿨에서는 학사, 석사 및 박사과정과 임원교육과정, 그리고, 다양한 비전문학위 과정이 제공되고 있는데요. 오늘은 Hass의 Global Access Program에 대해서 알아보겠습니다.
이 독특한 방문학생 과정은 Bay 지역과 실리콘 밸리의 혁신적인 생태계 내에서의 버클리 하스의 최고 수준의 교수진과 과목과 네트워크에 대한 접근을 가능하게 합니다.
Berkeley Hass Global Access Program (BHGAP)과정을 통해 비즈니스 배경을 가지든 그렇지 않든 최상위 자격의 국제 학생이 미래 혁신가와 글로벌 리더가 되기 위해 필요한 지식, 스킬과 인맥을 습득할 수 있습니다.
BHGAP 과정은 2022년 가을학기에 입학하는 자격을 갖춘 4명의 각 학생에게 최대 5,000달러의 장학금을 지급한다고 합니다. 이 과정의 학기당 학비는 $21,900으로 상당히 도움이 되는 액수입니다.
이 장학금 대상이 되기 위해서는 입학지원과 함께 장학금 신청도 진행해야 합니다. 입학 지원 자격은 다음과 같습니다.
- Current third- or fourth-year undergraduates or recent graduates / graduate students
- 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in your undergraduate or graduate studies
이 프로그램의 참가 자격은 현재 대학 3학년이나 4학년생, 그리고, 최근에 대학을 졸업한 학생이나 대학원생도 지원할 수 있습니다. 학부 및 대학원에서의 학점은 GPA 3.0이상이어야 합니다. 그리고, 장학금 신청의 경우, 온라인 입학신청서와 함께 에세이(Haas Defining Principles), 그리고, 추천서가 필요한데요. 추천서는 직장 상사 혹은 교수님으로부터 받을 수 있습니다.
입학신청은 크게 세 단계로 진행됩니다. 온라인 입학신청서 작성을 위해 UC Berkeley Extension의 학생 계정을 만들고 프로파일을 작성해야 합니다.
그리고, 다음의 서류를 업로드해야 하고, 입학 신청비 100불을 지불해야 합니다.
- 공인영어성적
- 대학/대학원 성적표
- 에세이(Statement of Purpose)
- 장학금 신청 체크 후 Haas Defining Principles 주제로 500단어 이내 에세이 작성과 추천서
영어가 모국어가 아니라면, 영어성적을 제출해야 합니다. 토플은 90점 이상, IELTS는 7.0 이상을 요하며, 1년 이상 영어로 풀타임 대학 정규 수업을 들었거나 영어가 공식언어인 국가에서 대학 학위를 취득했다면, 성적 제출 면제 요청을 할 수 있습니다.
에세이를 작성할 때는 다음의 가이드라인을 따라 작성해야 합니다.
1. Length of essay: 800–1,000 words, single-spaced.
2. Background: Which academic, personal, and professional experiences have prepared you for this rigorous program? Please describe successes that may not be apparent from just reading your transcript. Briefly describe any other extracurricular interests or activities you hope to engage in at UC Berkeley or in the Bay Area.
3. Understanding of the program: How will participating in this program help you achieve your academic, professional or personal goals? Briefly explain your understanding of the program's requirements and the courses you will be eligible to apply for as a student. Please also state the name of the program you are applying to.
4. Anomalies: Please explain any anomalies in your academic transcript, such as a failed course, a low GPA, or a change in your major concentration. If there is nothing unusual about your transcript, you do not need to include this section.
장학금 신청을 위한 에세이 질문은 다음과 같습니다. 다음의 주제로 에세이를 작성해서 업로드해야 합니다.
Berkeley Haas students, faculty and alumni live our distinctive culture out loud by embracing our four Defining Leadership Principles: Question the Status Quo, Confidence Without Attitude, Students Always and Beyond Yourself. In 500 words or less, detail what these four Haas Defining Principles mean to you and how would you incorporate them during your time in the Berkeley Haas Global Access Program.
BHGAP과정의 학생들은 Berkeley Hass 비즈니스 과목에서 9~11 학점을 수강하고, 3학점은 UC Berkeley의 과목 카탈로그에서 골라 들어 총 12~15학점을 이수하게 됩니다.
- Haas Core Courses (4 in the fall, 3 in the spring)
- Two Haas electives (4–6 units) in the following subject areas: marketing, leadership, entrepreneurship and/or finance
- An additional elective outside of business from the main UC Berkeley course catalog
학생들은 한 학기 혹은 두 학기를 참여할 수 있다고 했는데요. 한 학기를 마치면, Certificate를 수령하게 되고, 두 개의 학기를 마치면, 디플로마를 받게 됩니다.
1학기 수강 후 BHGAP Certificate를 받기 위한 자격 요건은 아래와 같습니다.
- Enroll in at least 12 units of courses taken at UC Berkeley.
- Complete a minimum of 9 units of BHGAP curriculum, including BHGAP Core Courses and BHGAP electives.
- Complete a minimum of 1 unit of Concurrent Enrollment (CE) electives.
그리고, 2학기를 수강하고 BHGAP Diploma를 수령하려면, 첫 번째 학기에 위의 Certificate 수령 조건을 모두 충족하고, 두 번째 학기와 전체 학기의 다음 조건을 충족해야 합니다.
| During second semester | • Enroll in all BHGAP Core Courses. • Enroll in at least 12 units in all courses taken at UC Berkeley. |
| During the two semesters | • Complete at least 18 units of BHGAP curriculum (Core Courses and Electives). Courses will not be counted twice for credit. • Complete a minimum of 1 unit through the Concurrent Enrollment system each semester enrolled in the program. • Complete a minimum of 24 units of courses taken at UC Berkeley. |
1학기든 2학기든 모든 학생들은 성적이 모든 과목에서 C 이상이어야 하고, 최종 프로그램의 GPA가 2.5이상이어야 하며, P/NP의 과목은 최종 GPA에 포함되지 않으니 반드시 학점으로 인정하는 성적을 받아야 합니다.
그리고, 두 학기를 마친 학생들은 미국에서 1년간 취업을 할 수 있는 OPT 자격이 주어집니다.
BHGAP 2022학년도 봄 및 가을학기의 핵심 필수 과목은 아래와 같습니다. 이밖에 다수의 선택과목도 수강해야 합니다.
