미국과 유럽의 MBA나 Executive MBA를 지원할 때 필수적인 것이 바로 GMAT 성적입니다. 그런데 몇몇의 MBA 프로그램들은 GMAT대신에 GMAC의 Executive Assessment 테스트로 대신하기도 합니다. 유럽과 중국 MBA들이 주로 이 시험들을 운영하고 있습니다. 그리고 이 시험을 적극적으로 가장 잘 활용하고 있는 학교가 아마도 INSEAD Business School일 것입니다.
INSEAD Business School에서는 Executive Assessment(EA)와 GMAT 그리고 또 하나 인정하는 것이 INSEAD의 자체 시험인 INSEAD Assessment입니다. 원래는 일정한 장소에 모여서 시험을 보거나, 지원서를 내고 캠퍼스에 인터뷰하러 와서 인터뷰한 후에 시험을 보고 가는 것이 일반적이었는데 코로나 19로 인하여 이제는 집에서도 이 시험을 볼 수 있는 시스템을 구축하였다고 합니다.
그래서 이 두 시험은 어떤 형식이고 얼마 동안의 시험시간 안에 문제를 풀어야 하는지 알아보도록 하겠습니다. 얼마 전 INSEAD Business School에서 이 시험들에 대해서 설명을 해주었는데 어떤 형식이고 시간이 얼마가 필요한지 아래와 같이 설명하고 있으니 참고하시길 바랍니다.
The INSEAD Assessment will be a two-part online assessment post application including a multiple-choice selection test across Quantitative (data analysis and data interpretation) & Verbal (communication analysis and critical thinking) sections followed by a case study presentation and motivational interview with alumni. These two sections can be taken in one day or split over two days.
The Executive Assessment (EA) will be identical in structure to the EA delivered in test centers and has the same number of items and time for completion across Integrated Reasoning, Verbal and Quantitative sections. The assessment will take 90 minutes to complete and approximately 15 minutes for the online proctor check-in process. It is accessible on a personal computer with a MAC or Windows operating system that meets the required technical specifications. It is available in all markets globally except for mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Slovenia due to regulatory and data privacy rules.
The EA uses a built-in online notepad for test takers to write notes and equations. To help test takers prepare for the online assessment, GMAC have created an online whiteboard practice tool for them to become familiar with the functionality to help performance on assessment day.
위와 방식으로 집에서 온라인으로 시험을 볼 수 있게 도와주고 있으니 굳이 센터에 직접 가서 시험을 안 봐도 됩니다. INSEAD에서도 센터에서의 시험을 취소하고 집에서 온라인 시험으로 응시하라고 권하고 있습니다.
현대 MBA 시장을 이끌어 가고 있는 탑 비즈니스 스쿨인 인시아드가 이렇게 먼저 앞서 가고 있습니다. 이런 인시아드의 정책에 비해서 미국 탑스쿨들은 아직도 구시대를 살고 있는 것 같습니다. 가장 자유로운 듯이 보이지만 자유가 없는 나라가 미국이 아닐까 하는 생각이 또 드네요.
