COVID-19사태가 이제부터 본격적으로 전세계를 휩쓰는 것 같습니다. 오늘 이탈리아에서 무려 천명에 가까운 사망자가 나왔습니다. 반달곰원장이 이탈리아의 SDA Bocconi Business School, Polimoda, Academia Costume Moda와 많은 이탈리아 어학원등을 컨설팅하고 있는데 학교들이 문을 받고 기존 학생들의 안전을 걱정하는 이메일을 받을 때마다 가슴이 아픕니다. 이탈리아를 포함하여 전세계에서 코로나가 사라지길 기원합니다.

Arizona State University
W.P. Carey School Of Business:
ASU's W. P. Carey School of Business has made several updates to admission procedures during this time to ensure that all future Full-time MBA students enjoy the same opportunities to apply. We are extending the final deadline for Fall 2020 enrollment to June 1, and are also waiving the application fee. You may also qualify for a GMAT/GRE waiver, based on work experience, GPA, and a successful video interview. The W. P. 먼저 애리조나주의 Arizona State University 의 Carey MBA의 업데이트 소식을 살펴보겠습니다. ASU Carey MBA는 시국이 엄중한 만큼 입학조건에 있어서 몇가지 변화를 주었는데 첫째 입학지원이 6월 1일까지로 연기되었다는 것입니다. 그러므로 입학지원하는데 늦었다고 생각하는 분들은 서둘러서 준비하시길 바랍니다.
둘째는 입학지원서비를 면제해준다는 것입니다. 그러니, 밑져야 본전이니 입학지원을 하라는 뜻이겠지요. 그리고 가장 중요한 GMAT/GRE를 직장경력, 대학교성적 GPA, 그리고 성공적인 비디오 인터뷰에 따라서 면제 받을 수 있다는 것입니다. GMAT/GRE를 면제 받을 수 있다면 MBA준비하는 것이 완전 편해집니다.

The Harbert College of Business at Auburn University is working with prospective students to offer flexible enrollment options for Fall Semester 2020. The application deadline for Auburn Full-Time and online MBA programs has moved to June 1 to allow more time to engage with our admissions team. 카네기멜론대학교 Tepper MBA에서 아직 지원을 생각하는 후보자들과 이미 합격을 한 사람들을 위해서 여러가지 조치를 하고 있습니다. 지금 4라운드 입학지원을 받는데 GMAT/GRE, 그리고 토플시험등을 볼 수 없어 많은 사람들이 고생하고 있기에 시험을 안본 사람들에게 유연한 정책을 제공하기로 결정하였습니다. 일단 시험점수가 없어도 이 사실을 지원서에 노트만 하고 지원을 하라고 권하고 있습니다. 그리고 나중에 가능할 때 학생과 작업할 것이라고 합니다.

Columbia Business School:
The coronavirus is certainly impacting all industries. As it relates to MBA admissions, we proactively made adjustments in order to make applicant-friendly modifications. We extended our application deadline to June 1, 2020 from our normal April deadline. In addition, we are allowing the submission of applications without standardized test scores – GMAT, GRE and Executive Assessment – to accommodate test takers who have been affected by the worldwide suspension of testing. We will begin the review process for otherwise completed applications once they are submitted, however, we will not be able to render a final decision until a standardized test score is provided.
We plan to admit more candidates toward the end of this application cycle in anticipation that some of our admitted students may struggle, for a variety of reasons, to start in August 2020. Our office remains open, albeit operating from a remote environment, and we’re happy to talk by phone about submitting an application, or about the School.
세계 탑랭킹 콜롬비아대학교 MBA도 입학지원 마지막 라운드의 마감일을 6월 1일로 연장하였습니다. 그리고 시험점수 GMAT/GRE, 토플 점수 없이도 지원서를 제출하도록 허락하고 있습니다. 그리고 나중에 상황이 좋아지면 그 때 시험점수를 제출해야 한다고 합니다. 시험점수 없이는 최종 합격은 줄 수 없다는 것이지요.
위와 같이 미국의 명문대학교들이 상상할 수 없는 조치, 즉, GMAT/GRE, TOEFL점수 없이도 지원서를 받고 있습니다. 코로나19로 인하여 시험기관들이 시험 자체를 취소하니 학생들 입장에서는 난감한 것이지요. 이것은 국내의 고려대MBA, 연세대MBA,서울대MBA, 카이스트MBA 지원에서도 볼 수 있는 상황입니다. 많은 경우 토익 점수를 제출해야 하는데 토익을 볼 수가 없으니 난리이지요.
보통은 공인 영어시험으로 인정 되는 다른 시험들, 토플, IELTS, OPIC등도 인정을 하고 있으니 시험이 오픈 되는 것이 있으면 그것을 준비해서 제출하면 가능할 수 있습니다. 목마른 사람이 우물을 파고 하늘이 무너져도 솟아날 구멍이 있다고, 노력하는 사람에게는 해결책이 있습니다. 그러니 포기하지말고 천천히 준비하시길 바라겠습니다.
