1918년에 설립된 Tallinn University of Technology는 에스토니아에 있는 유일한 기술대학입니다. 에스토니아의 수도인 Tallinn에 있는 톨린 기술대학은 줄여서 TalTech라고 불리는데요. 공학, 비즈니스, 공공행정과 해양 사업을 위한 대학입니다. TalTech는 Tartu와 Kohtla-Jarve에도 칼리지를 갖고 있습니다. 비슷한 이름의 대학이 있는데 Tallinn University와 Tallinn University of Technology는 완전히 다른 대학입니다.
20세기 초에 에스토니아는 지역에 훈련받은 공학 전문가의 필요성을 다급하게 인식하게 됩니다. 그때까지만 해도 에스토니아의 젊은이들은 독일의 상트페테르부르크와 리가에서 전문 교육을 받았습니다. 현지 상황과 필요에 맞게 적응한 에스토니아에 기반을 둔 교육을 받을 기회가 공학적인 마인드를 가진 사람들에게 필요했는데요. 에스토니아는 독립국가로 자리매김하는 과정에 있어서 더 절실했습니다.
1918년 9월 17일에 Estonian Engineering Society는 Special Engineering Courses라고 불리는 에스토니아 기반의 스쿨을 열었습니다. 이 날짜가 바로 Tallinn University of Technology의 설립 날짜로서 인식되었습니다. 기계공학, 전자공학, 토목공학과 수력공학, 조선, 건축학 등의 공학 프로그램이 제공되었습니다. 1919년에 학교는 사립의 Tallinn College of Engineering이 되었고, 1920년에 공립 기관으로 선포되었습니다.
TalTech는 Times Higher Education 세계 대학 랭킹 2016-2017에서 601-800위 대학에 들며, 발트 3국에서 세 번째로 높은 순위를 차지하는 대학입니다. 현재 30개 이상의 완전 공식 인증의 영어로 강의가 진행되는 국제 학위 프로그램을 제공하는 대학이 되었습니다. 영어로 진행되는 4개의 학사 학위과정, 18개의 석사, 10개의 박사 학위 프로그램이 있습니다.

입학 신청 전에 자격 조건이 맞는지 확인해 봐야 하는데요. 학위 프로그램에서 요구하는 선수과목이 있는지, 영어 실력은 어느 정도 되는지, 학력 조건은 어떻게 되는지 살펴봐야 합니다.
한국 학생의 경우 학사 과정에 지원하기 위해서는 국문 고등학교 졸업 및 성적서와 함께 영문 서류도 필요합니다.

석사 과정에 지원하기 위해서는 학사 이상으로 다음의 서류가 필요합니다.

그리고 원본은 학교에 발송해야 하는데, 다음의 서류를 준비해야 합니다. 주의할 점은 학교에서 개인정으로 요청하는 것이 아니면, 보낼 필요가 없습니다.

TalTech에서는 다양한 장학금을 학생들에게 주고 있는데, 입학 당시 최고의 점수를 받은 학생은 전액 장학금을 수령할 수 있고, 학업 성과에 따른 장학금 신청도 가능하며, 월에 100유로 정도 받을 수 있습니다.
