2019년 US News & World Report의 미국 대학 랭킹에서 조지아공대와 공동 35위를 차지한 University of Florida는 1853년에 설립된 공립대학으로 학교의 5만명 이상의 학생들이 모여 대학 타운을 형성한 Gainesville 다운타운에서 3km 정도 떨어진 거리에 캠퍼스가 있습니다.
플로리다의 Gators 스포츠 팀은 NCAA Division I 남동부 컨퍼런스 경기에 참여하며 마스코트 Albert와 Alberta라는 악어가 응원하고 있습니다.
주로 Ben Hill Griffin 스타디움에서 경기를 치르는 Gator 축구 팀은 주로 ‘The Swamp’라고 불리는데, 특별히 유명합니다. 신입의 Gator 선수들이 1965년에 새로운 음료의 실험에 참여한 이후 인기있는 스포츠 음료인 ‘게토레이’라는 이름이 생기게 되었습니다.
약 15%의 학생들이 학교의 60개의 남학생과 여학생 사교모임과 연관되어 있습니다.
신입생은 캠퍼스에 살 필요는 없으나 75% 이상의 학생들이 기숙사 생활을 하고 있습니다. 모든 학생들은 매주 금요일에 열리는 Gator Nights에 참여할 수 있는데, 이는 늦은 밤 오락 및 스낵을 제공하고 있습니다.
University of Florida는 미국 공립의 land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant의 연구 중심대학으로 플로리다 주의 대학 시스템의 고참 회원입니다. 또한, 62개의 Association of American Universities (AAU)의 회원 중 하나로 플로리다 주에서 유일한 AAU 회원교입니다.

UF의 학부 과정에 지원하기 위해서는 대학이 요구하는 최소한의 자격 기준을 충족해야 합니다. 이 최소한의 조건을 만족했다고 입학을 보장하지 않는다는 것은 누구나 잘 아실 것입니다. 다른 지원자보다 더 특별하고 우수하다는 것을 준비해야 하는 모든 서류에서 증명할 수 있도록 노력하는 것이 필요합니다. UF에서 지원자들에게 요구하는 기본적인 요건은 아래와 같습니다.
· Online application for admission received by the Office of Admissions by the deadline.
· A non-refundable application fee plus $5 processing fee. Students who are eligible can have their application fee waived..
· A satisfactory academic record. Applicants must provide a complete chronological record of educational institutions attended. Official transcripts from all educational institutions must be submitted according to instructions on the application. Failure to declare attendance at another institution could invalidate an offer of admission and any credits or degrees earned.
· Satisfactory scores on achievement or aptitude tests; the SAT, ACT, and/or TOEFL.
· A satisfactory conduct record.
· Applicants must identify a preferred term of enrollment whether summer B, fall or spring on their application. The application may be considered for and admission may be offered to terms other than the preferred term specified on the application. Applicants who wish to change their term of entry should contact the Office of Admissions immediately.
· Admission to on-campus degree programs must be validated by taking one or more on-campus courses in the specific semester for which the student is accepted. Correspondence and/or Web courses do not fulfill this requirement, and this rule does not apply to Web-based degree programs.
신청서와 신청비, 고등학교 성적 및 증명서, SAT나 ACT, TOEFL과 같은 공인 시험성적 등입니다. 학부 신입 지원은 현재 고등학생이거나 고등학교 졸업 후 한 학기 12학점 이내의 수업을 수강한 학생들이 신청할 수 있습니다. UF는 Coalition Application을 통해서만 지원할 수 있고 8월 중순부터 11월 1일까지 진행됩니다. 이후는 수시 모집으로 자리가 있는 경우에 학생들을 받고 있습니다. 11월 1일까지 지원한 학생들의 입학 합격자 발표는 2월 중순입니다.
입학생의 선발 기준은 지원자의 학업 증명과 전체적인 검토에 근거를 두고 있습니다. 신청서에 포함된 모든 정보와 신청자 풀의 규모와 강도를 고려하지 않고 어떤 신청자의 합격 가능성을 예측하는 것은 쉬운 일이 아닙니다. 모든 요소가 입학 심사에서 고려되고 있습니다.
신입 지원자의 최소 요구 조건으로 성적 GPA와 공인 시험 성적 점수입니다.
Middle 50% of the 2019 Freshman Class
· High school GPA of 4.3-4.6
· SAT scores of 1330-1460
· ACT scores of 29-33
공인 인증을 받은 고등학교나 그와 동등한 자격의 학업을 마친 학생들이 지원할 수 있는데, 최소한 학생들이 고등학교때 수강했어야 하는 과목은 다음과 같습니다.

· Submit appropriate test scores:
o Freshmen must submit official SAT or ACT scores.
o Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Michigan English Lab Assessment Battery (MELAB)
o Applicants are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment or if you are from one of the following countries.
· International freshman applicants are required to submit secondary credentials from non-U.S. institutions to a credential evaluation agency for a course-by-course evaluation with grade point average calculation.
