오늘은 반달곰원장이 North Carolina Chapel Hill로 갑니다. 듀크대학교와 함께 North Carolina주의 쌍두마차를 이루고 있는 University of North Carolina Chapel Hill UNC Chapel Hill의 아시아연구소인 Carolina Asia Center CAC 에서 운영하는 Korea Research Fellows프로그램에 대해서 안내를 해드리겠습니다. 그 중에서도 가장 중요한 영어에 대한 조건을 자세히 안내해드릴 것입니다.
CAC는 East Asia인 한국 중국 일본, 동아시아, 그리고 동남아시아고나련한 연구를 하는데 이안에 한국인들을 위한 Korea Research Fellows 한국학센터 같은 개념의 프로그램이 있습니다. Korea Research Fellows에서는 한국의 정부, 지방자치제, 언론인등 한국의 전문성을 가진 직장인들, 공무원, 그리고 대학교 교수님등을 초청하고 있습니다.
UNC Chapel Hill의 CAC에서 초청을 받으면 방문학자들에게는 아래와 같은 혜택이 주어집니다. 그러므로 방문학자를 고려하는 분들은 아래의 사항을 잘 고려하시길 바랍니다.
Korea Research Fellowship Components:
Active mentoring by faculty coordinators
Engagement in regular seminar meetings led by faculty coordinators
Regular reporting for funding agencies
Access to UNC libraries
Arrange meetings with Faculty Adviser
UNC oneCard (University ID Card) that will allow the scholar to access facilities at UNC. Additional fees may apply for accessing certain facilities such as gyms
UNC email address
UNC internet access
Ability to audit courses offered at UNC with instructors’ permission
Access to all talks and seminars sponsored or cosponsored by the Carolina Asia Center (CAC)
Opportunity to present the scholar’s work (optional) at UNC, for which the CAC will provide a venue at the FedEx Global Education Center building and will help advertise the event
Library Carrel (not guaranteed – dependent upon demand)
이런 좋은 조건이 주어지는데 Korea Research Fellows프로그램에 초청되면 학교에 내는 비용은 상당히 저렴합니다. 한 학기에 2000달러이고 일년에는 4000달러입니다. 그럼 과연 한국연구펠러우프로그램에 초빙받기 위해서는 무엇이 필요할까요! 당연히 영문이력서, 연구계획서, 그리고 기관에서 스폰받은 영문회사재정증명서가 필요합니다.
그리고 초청과 입학허가서를 받기 위해서 가장 중요한 것은 영어점수입니다. 과거에는 영어 인터뷰도 하였으나 지금은 영어인터뷰를 하지 않고 영어점수 제출을 요구하는데 아래와 같은 조건을 맞추면 됩니다.
