헝가리 부다페스트에 위치한 Semmelweis University가 오늘 소개할 학교로 이 대학은 1769년에 설립된 대학으로 Faculty of Medicine의 경우 헝가리에서 가장 오래된 의과대학이자 대학 내에서도 가장 큰 단과대학이기도 합니다. 이 의대는 1951년에 독립적으로 분리되었고, 치과대학과 약학대학이 1955년에 새롭게 설립되었습니다.
거의 250년 동안 의공학 분야 및 의사, 치과의사, 약사 교육을 제공한 경험을 가진 Semmelweis 대학은 최첨단 기술을 갖춘 고무적인 환경에서 저명한 교수들로부터 직접 최신 지식 및 기술을 습득할 기회를 제공하고 있습니다. 교육, 연구, 건강관리의 전통이 바탕이 된 국제적으로 유명한 대학으로 대학이름인 Semmelweis는 염화칼슘에 의한 소독법을 발명한 헝가리의 의학자의 이름을 따서 지어져 더 신뢰가 가는 의과대학이기도 합니다.
Semmelweis University는 공립대학으로 교육부와 보건부의 감독 아래 있으며, 세계보건기구(WHO)의 의과대학 명부에 올라있습니다. Semmelweis University는 영어 국제 프로그램을 제공하는 첫 번째 헝가리 대학으로 오늘날 세멜바이스에서 의학을 공부하는 학생이 4000명이 넘습니다. 약 3천명의 학생들이 의과대학, 630명은 치의대, 649명이 약학대에 재학중이라고 하네요.
국제의대로서 Semmelweis University에서 제공하는 International Program은 아래와 같습니다.
1) General Medicine: 6-year program with a degree as MUDr. - "Medicinae Universae Doctor" (M.D.) - Doctor of General Medicine
2) Dentistry: 5-year program with a degree as MDDr. - "Medicinae Dentalis Doctor" - Doctor of Dental Medicine
3) Pharmacology: 5-year program with a degree as a PharmD. -Doctor of Pharmacy
이밖에 영어로 진행되는 Health Care 부분의 학위 과정도 있는데, Physiotherapy(B.Sc. & M.Sc.), Nursing (B.Sc. & M.Sc.), Midwifery (B.Sc.) 프로그램도 눈여겨 볼 필요가 있습니다.
일반 의학 프로그램인 General Medicine은 6년 과정, Dentistry는 5년, Pharmacology는 5년 과정으로 이루어져 있습니다.
국제적인 교육은 30년 역사를 가지고 있는데요. 독일어와 영어 프로그램을 의학, 치의학, 약학 프로그램에 적용해서 가르치고 있는데, 독일어 수업은 1983년부터, 영어 프로그램은 그보다 조금 늦은 1989년부터 제공해왔다고 합니다. 하지만, 헝가리 내에서 의사로 활동하려면 환자와 커뮤니케이션이 상당히 중요한 부분이라 학생들이 어느 정도의 헝가리어 실력이 필요합니다.
프로그램이 시작해서 첫 두 해 동안 수업은 완전히 영어로 진행되지만, 3년째부터 학생들이 임상 모듈 기간을 거치는 동안 환자들과 의사소통을 해야 하기 때문에 헝가리어에 대한 약간의 지식을 가지고 있어야 합니다.
위의 프로그램에 지원하기 위해서는 다음의 입학 조건을 갖춰야 합니다.
- 고등학교 졸업 증명서
- 입학 시험 : 생물, 화학, 생리생물학
입학 신청은 2018년 6월 30일 이전에 마쳐야 하며, 다음의 서류를 신청서와 함께 업로드해야 합니다.
1. Matriculation / School Leaving Certificate from an accredited high school / senior secondary school. Registration number of documents should be indicated. If you are in your final year and have not yet received this certificate, you can still apply and take the entrance examination.
2. Transcripts of high school / senior secondary school courses verifying successful completion of General Biology or Zoology, General or Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physics. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted, but acceptance into the program will be on condition of receipt of all official transcripts or attested copies.
3. Curriculum Vitae (Resume) in English.
4. Motivation letter in English.
5. Medical Certificate. Certification that the applicant is physically and mentally able to complete higher educational studies, and she/he does not suffer from any chronic infectious disease.
6. Copy of passport or ID card with your personal data.
7. A passport size photo.
신청비는 USD350으로 지원과 입학 시험에 사용되는 비용입니다. 입학시험은 2월에서 8월 사이에 진행되며, 부다페스트뿐만 아니라 세계 여러 지역에서 시험을 볼 수 있습니다. 서울의 경우 올해 4월 23~26일 사이에 시험이 있었으며, 다른 시험 일정을 원한다면, 아시아 지역 베이징, 상해, 타이페이, 도쿄 등 날짜를 맞춰 진행 가능합니다.

1. Evolution: chemical and biological aspects
2. Chemical background in Biology: Structure of atoms; Molecules – chemical bonds; Solutions; Chemical reactions; Inorganic constituents; Hydrocarbons; Organic compounds containing Oxygen or Sulphur; Organic compounds containing Nitrogen; Carbohydrates; Amino acids and Proteins; Lipids; Vitamins; Nucleic acids.
3. The cell and its organization (morphology and function): Prokaryotes (viruses, bacteria) and Eukaryotes (focus on cilia and flagella, cell wall, cell membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi, lysosome, mitochondrion, ribosome, centriole, nucleus, nucleolus).
4. From cells to tissues of different structure and function (plant and animal tissues as well).
5. Cell division: mitosis and meiosis.
6. Anabolic and catabolic pathways regarding nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids (photosynthesis, bioenergetics included).
7. The physiology of living organisms: respiration, ingestion and digestion, excretion, circulation, endocrine and neural regulation, immune-biology, locomotion.
8. Reproduction and development of animals.
9. Genetics: Mendelian inheritance, human genetics.
10. Basic ethology. Note: Knowledge of English terminology is required in all of these questions!
학비는 한 학기 기준으로 다음과 같습니다.
Medicine (6 years) USD 9 100 / semester
Dentistry (5 years) USD 9 100 / semester
Pharmacy (5 years) USD 6 000 / semester
첫 해에는 두 번에 나눠서 학비를 납부하게 되고, 첫 번째 학기는 Enrollment fee USD 220과 함께 납부해야 합니다.
숙소는 학생들이 직접 아파트 렌트를 하는 방법으로 구하게 되며, 보통 한 달에 300유로를 예상할 수 있습니다. 헝가리의 거주 주소가 없으면 체류허가를 받을 수 없기 때문에 입학이 확인이 되면, 숙소도 함께 신청해야 합니다.
