미국 아리조나주에 있는 Arizona State University의 W.P. Carey School of Business는 미국 비즈니스쿨중에서 가장 큰 학교중의 하나입니다. W.P Carey 비즈니스스쿨에만 교수가 250명, 학부생이 1만명이상, 그리고 대학원생이 1천명이상이 다니고 있으니 엄청 큰 비즈니스스쿨이지요. William P. Carey가 5천만달러를 학교에 기부하여 그 이름을 따서 W.P. Carey School of Business 라고 이름을 부르고 있습니다.
그런데 ASU Carey MBA가 미국 US News and World Report에서도 35위에 랭크되고 각족 MBA전문지에서 상위 랭킹을 유지하는데도 우리나라 후보자들은 그다지 ASU MBA에 지원을 많이 하는 것 같지는 않습니다. 훌륭한 비즈니스스쿨임에도 불구하고 많이 지원안하는 잉는 무엇일까요? 우리나라 사람들의 네임 인지도가 편향되어 있는 탓에 그럴지도 모릅니다. 솔직히 그 유명한 University of Virginia Darden MBA도 모르는데 충분히 이해할 수가 있지요. 그럼 ASU Carey MBA의 훌륭함을 살짝 엿보기 위해서 랭킹을 살펴보도록 하겠습니다.

평균 GMAT이 672점입니다. 그리고 IBT 평균점수는 106점입니다. 즉, 토플은 IBT 100점은 있어야하고 GMAT은 670점 정도는 받아야 ASU Carey MBA에 도전할만하다는 이야기가 되겠지요. 그러다 보니 그 정도의 점수를 가지고 있는 후보자들이 우리나라에 더 잘 알려진 유명한 MBA에 지원하여 다른 곳으로 입학하는 경향들이 많습니다. ASU 도 충분히 좋은 대학교인데도 불구하고 많이 지원을 안해서 안타깝습니다만 Supply chain and logistcis분야로 진출하고 싶은 분들은 신중하게 고려하시길 바라겠습니다.
