오늘은 St. Michael's College 의 날인가 봅니다. 좀전에 St. Michaels College라는 영국의 보딩스쿨을 소개해드렸었는데 지금은 미국 버몬트주에 있는 1904년에 설립된 사립 카톨릭대학교입니다. 이 학교에는 테솔석사과정 Master of Arts of Teachjing English to Speakers to Other Languages 가 유명한데, 이번에 학교에서 전액장학금 소식을 전해 왔습니다.
조건없는 전액장학금은 없지만 장학금의 요지는 이렇습니다. 반달곰원장의 학생중에서 undergraduate 과정을 St. Michael's College에서 공부한 중에 MATESOL을 지원한 학생중에 한명에게 전액장학금을 제공한다는 것입니다. English teachers , Language instructors 또는 영어관련 staffs들중에서 TESOL 석사를 원하시는 분들에게는 매우 좋은 프로그램이 될 것입니다.
장학금의 혜택을 받을려면 2016년 가을학기에는 undergraduate 과정에 입학을 하여야 합니다. 그리고 석사과정을 빠르면 2017년 여름부터 할 수도 있습니다. 그러므로 신입으로 학부를 입학하는 것도 가능하지만 편입을 고려하는 학생에게 더 좋을 수도 있습니다. 자세한 사항은 반달곰원장에게 문의하시면 자세히 안내해드리겠습니다.
MATESOL과정은 4학기 과정으로 온캠퍼스, 온라인 또는 혼합형으로 공부할 수가 있습니다. 즉, 일정한 기간은 미국 버몬트 St. Michaels College에서 공부하고 나머지 기간은 한국에서 온라인으로 공부할 수도 있습니다. 이렇게 전액장학금을 받으면 좋지만 전액장학금을 안받아도 학비는 $21420 으로 상당히 저렴한 수준입니다.
전세계적으로 English Instructor에 대한 수요들은 많이 있습니다. MATESOL을 하고서 한국에서만 영어를 가르친다고 생각마시고 유럽이나 다른 아시아 아프리카, 남미등의 나라에서 영어를 가르치는 것을 생각하셔야 합니다. 한국에서도 좋지만 시장이 매우 작습니다. 좀 더 크고 클로벌한 무대에서 영어관련 일을 찾으시는 것이 좋습니다.

Application requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 from an accredited American college or university, or its equivalent from a foreign university.
- Official transcript(s) of all undergraduate and graduate work, mailed in the original sealed envelope from the issuing institution.
- Two reference forms accompanied by letters of recommendation with original signatures, at least one of which should be an academic reference. (ELL Licensure applicants only: Must have one academic or employer reference — whichever is most relevant — and one from a person who has observed your work with children/adolescents in a professional setting.)
- A resumé.
- A $50 application fee.
- A one-to-two page essay describing your educational career objectives with particular emphasis on the following: personal and professional goals, relevant employment experience, why you wish to study at Saint Michael's College, and your ability and commitment to undertake graduate-level education at this time.
In addition to the aforementioned, international applicants must also:
- Submit an official TOEFL or other approved English language proficiency test score report (for those whom English is not a native language).
- Submit an original letter of financial support.
- Complete the International Applicant section of the Graduate Admission Application (for those whom English is not a native language). I-20 forms cannot be issued without completion of this form and the supporting financial documentation.
