오늘은 반달곰원장이 샌디에고 주립대학교 SDSU의 새로운 전문연수 프로그램인 Social Entrepreneurship에 대해서 소개해드리겠습니다. 사회적 기업가정신은 무엇일까요! 요즘 한국에는 NGO활동에 대한 관심이 있는 젊은이들이 많습니다.
국제개발협력NGO, 국내 해외 1대1 아동결연, 해외빈곤아동후원, 빈곤장애아동후원
위와 같이 많은 NGO단체들이 있습니다. 이런 곳에서 일하면서 사회적기업가 정신을 키우는 것도 좋지요. NGO활동은 직접 몸으로 정신적으로 봉사하는 것이라고 하면 Social Entrepreneurship 은 단순히 봉사하는 것에 만족하지 않고 사회에 봉사할 수 있는 서비스나 제품을 만들어 지속적으로 가난한 사람들을 도와주고 많은 사람들에게 혜택을 줄 수 있는 기업을 창업 하는 것을 의미합니다. 이런 Social Entrepreneurship 석사과정을 제공하는 HULT Interantional Business School의 Master of Social Entrepreneurship 이 유명합니다. 그리고 전문연수로는 SDSU 의 Social Entrepreneurship 이 있습니다. 특히 SDSU에서 적극적으로 진행하고 있는 Social Entrepreneurship의 장점과 입학조건, 수업일정 등에 대해서 알려드리겠습니다.
Program Highlights
- Excellent Faculty with Advanced Degrees
Most instructors hold advanced degrees and have experience in both business and language instruction. - Interaction with International Business Students
Students in the program have the opportunity to take classes with people from all around the world. - Membership to the SDSU Entrepreneur Society
Students gain membership to the SDSU Entrepreneur Society, which includes: access to networking opportunities and speaker sessions; participation in meetings, events, and workshops; and personalized Entrepreneurship Society business cards. - TOEFL Not Required
Students are tested on site. Those placing in high-intermediate to advanced levels are eligible for the Social Entrepreneurship certificate program. - Social Enterprise Models
Through classroom and seminar instruction, students will be shown models of how others developed a social business idea into an effective social business plan.
위에서 보다시피 토플을 요구하지 않습니다. 대신 학교에서 치루는 placement test를 통해서 high-intermediate to advanced level 을 받을 경우에 Social Entrepreneurship을 수강할 수 있습니다. 그런 레벨을 받는 것이 그렇게 어렵지는 않습니다. TOEIC 600, IBT 65, IELTS 5.5 이상이면 또한 입학을 보장해주니 걱정 하지 마시고 지원하시길 바라겠습니다.
Testing and Placement
The Social Entrepreneurship program offers instruction for students with high-intermediate to advanced levels of English. A minimum TOEIC score of 600, TOEFL iBT of 65, or IELTS score of 5.5 will guarantee admission to this program. Those without test scores will test upon arrival. Students who do not have a high-intermediate level of English will enter either the BEGP or IEC program.
Non-Certificate, Short-Term Option
Social Entrepreneurship students who miss the start of a term may begin their studies on any of the published flex-entry dates for four weeks or longer. Students who enroll for a period shorter than a session will receive recognition in Business English. To be eligible for a SE certificate, students entering on a flex-entry date must enroll in the next complete SE session.
샘플 수업일정을 보겠습니다. 월요일부터 금요일까지 수업이 있는데 보통 오전 시간에는 Oral Presentation/ Business Writing/Talking about Business처럼 비즈니스 영어 수업이 많습니다. 그리고 오후시간에는 SE Reading/Listening 시간을 가지고 금요일에는 SE Seminar 로서 하루종일 시간을 보냅니다. 샌디에고 이근의 사회적기업을 방문하는 등의 활동을 합니다.
SE의 수업은 Full Term 으로는 1월 5일부터 5월 7일까지 17주간, 그리고 5월 18일부터 8월 6일까지 12주기간, 그리고 8월 17일부터 12월 17일까지 18주기간으로 이루어져있습니다. 그리고 각 Full Term을 두번에 나누어서 들을 수 있는 A,B코스가 있으니 편하게 선택하시면 됩니다. 현재 2015년 1월 5일부터 시작하는 SE의 입학지원을 받고 있으니 도움이 필요하시면 연락주시길 바랍니다.
