그 대표적인 프로그램들을 정리해드리면 다음과 같습니다.
Academic Preparation
These programs are designed to help international students improve their English and prepare for undergraduate and graduate study in the United States. Programs vary in length and English proficiency requirements.
Business Certificates
We offer a variety of certificate programs that allow students to work on their English ability while also learning valuable business skills and knowledge. Many of these quarter-long programs also feature the option of enrolling in a Business English Internship Course (BEIC) upon completion, which gives students the chance to work in an unpaid position for a Seattle-area company.
Language & Culture
Our Language & Culture programs are designed for students who want to focus on their English speaking and listening skills. Course length varies from three weeks to a full quarter and there are both daytime and evening options. Some of the programs also offer fun activities outside the classroom that expose students to cultural aspects of American life and the beautiful Puget Sound region.
Programs for Teachers
The UW features two programs that are designed for those interested in teaching English: a certificate course in International Teaching English as a Foreign Language (I-TEFL) and the English Language Fellow/Specialist program, which places individuals with master's degrees in TEFL or related fields in 10-month teaching positions all around the world.
Study Abroad at the UW
Offered in conjunction with the UW's Jackson School of International Studies, the International Studies Academic Year Abroad (ISAYA) Institute allows foreign students to spend two or three quarters attending classes alongside other UW students.
Degree Programs
The Master of Arts in Applied International Studies (MAAIS) is a graduate degree designed for mid-career professionals. Taught by faculty from the Jackson School of International Studies, the program allows you to earn a master's degree in just 10 months of study.
Test Preparation Courses
We offer separate evening preparation courses for two of the major English proficiency tests, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Customized Group Programs
Allow International & English Language Programs to design a special program specifically for your academic or professional group. Programs can range in length from one week to nine months or longer and can cover a wide variety of subjects.
Research Programs
We feature two programs that allow foreign students to conduct research at the UW: the Visiting International Student Internship & Training (VISIT) Program and the Visiting International Student Engaged in Research (VISER) Program.
위에서 볼수 있듯이 영어연수 ESL과정, Business certificate과정에서 부터 Master of Arts in Applied International Studies 석사과정까지 다양한 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다. MAAIS는 10개월 과정으로 짧은기간안에 국제학관련 석사학위를 취득할 수 있으므로 관심있는 분들은 도전하시길 바랍니다.
UW는 다른 대학교의 부설어학원과는 다르게 MMR이나 학교보험을 강요하지 않았었습니다. 그러나 학교보험을 강요하는 전체적인 분위기를 그만 따라가고 말았습니다. 그래서 변경된 규정을 아래와 같으 안내하여 드리오니 UW IELP 어학연수와 Business Certificate과정을 원하시는 분들은 꼭 알아두시길 바랍니다.
1. New Insurance Policy
이번 가을학기부터 학생비자(F-1, J-1)를 소지한 유학생들은 학교 보험을 의무 가입하셔야 하며 세부 내용은 아래와 같습니다.
- 미국 정부 또는 한국 정부가 학생의 재정을 지원하는 경우 학교보험 의무가입 대상에서 제외됨
- 학생들은 매 쿼터별로 보험이 자동가입됨
- 학생이 배우자 또는 동반자녀가 있는 경우, 신청서에 미리 표시해 등록해야 함.
쿼터별 적용되는 보험비는 아래와 같습니다.
Student only: $283.83
Student + Spouse:$688.62
Student + Children (1 or more): $623.73
Student + Family (spouse and 1 or more children): $1,028.52
2. New Immunization Policy
이번 가을학기부터 모든 학생은 홍역내성증빙서류(Measles (Rubeola) immunity)를 제출해야 합니다.
- 신규 등록학생의 경우, 홍역 관련 요건이 충족되어야 수업 참여가 가능
- 기존 등록학생의 경우, 겨울학기 전까지 홍역 관련 요건을 충족해야 하며, 그렇지 않을 경우 수업참여 불가능
(1957년 1월 1일 이전 생일인 자는, 홍역 면역이 있는 것으로 간주. 접종기록 제출하지 않아도 됨)
또한 학교의 추가요청에 대비해 예방접종 및 질병에 관한 기록이 모두 나열된 건강증명서(Health Certificate)를 미리 준비해 학교에 가지고 가는게 좋다고 하니 진행에 참고 부탁 드립니다.
이 요구 사항에 따르기 위해 아래 두가지 옵션중 하나를 선택하시기 바랍니다.
1) UW Measles Immunity Requirement form(파일첨부됨) 작성후 아래 연락처로 제출
