오늘은 반달곰원장이 미국 워싱턴주의 명문 주립대학교 University of Washington에서 제공하는 방문학자 프로그램인 Visiting Executive Program VEP에 대해서 안내를 해드리겠습니다. 보통 유덥이라고 부르는 UW의 유명한 비즈니스스쿨인 Foster Business School에서는 전세계의 좋은 학자들을 초빙하고 있습니다.
반달곰원장이 작년 4월에 UW캠퍼스를 직접 방문하고 Foster Business School과는 미팅을 가지고 못하고 유명한 로스쿨의 디렉터와 담당자와 미팅을 가졌었습니다. 그리고 이번주에 UW VEP의 디렉터인 Kirsten과 Assistant 디렉터인 Angela가 반달곰원장을 방문하고 같이 저녁식사도 같이 하였습니다. 그 정도로 학교랑 협력하여 방문학자를 도와드리고 있습니다. 아시다시피 US News and World Report 의 미국MBA랭킹을 살펴보면 요즘 Foster MBA는 거의 20위권 초반에 랭크 될 정도로 계속해서 상승하고 있습니다.
이런 유명한 비즈니스스쿨에서 공식적으로 공부를 하거나, 자신이 원하는 수업을 청강할 수 있다면 매우 좋을 것입니다. 이런 비슷한 시스템의 방문학자 프로그램이 바로 반달곰원장이 매년 10명 정도 입학을 도와드리는 UCSD의 Global Leadership Institute GLI같은 프로그램입니다. 그런데 UCSD GLI는 한반에 사람들이 많으나 UW VEP프로그램은 한반에 10명이내의 소규모 수업을 지향하고 있습니다.

UW VEP과정은 두개의 트랙이 있습니다. 하나는 Management track이고 하나는 Custom Track입니다. 그 과정들을 살펴보면 아래와 같습니다.
Management Track(기간 9months- 1 year)
-Executive Development Program, 9 month “mini MBA” program
-Enrollment in one 2-3 day Executive Seminar or 3-week Intensive Short Term English Program
-Audit MBA elective courses
Custom Track(기간 3months- 1 year)
-Audit MBA elective courses
-Optional research project
-English language tutoring or Executive Seminars at an additional cost
