오늘은 반달곰원장이 미국 노스캐롤라이나의 명문대학교 University of North Carolina UNC Chapel Hill School of Law의 방문학자 프로그램인 Research Scholars Program을 안내하여 드리겠습니다. 반달곰원장이 미국대학교 로스쿨의 방문학자 프로그램을 소개해왔었는데 그 유명한 UNC Chapel Hill 로스쿨 방문학자 프로그램을 정식으로 소개한 적이 없었던 것 같습니다. 등잔불 밑이 어둡다더니 정말 그런 것 같습니다.
UNC 채플힐 로스쿨의 방문학자 프로그램은 전세계의 법조인들이나 법학교수들, 그리고 공무원들에게 UNC법학교수들과 같이 연구할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있습니다. 지난 과거동안에 50명이나 넘는 학자들이 전세계에서 방문하여 연구를 하였었습니다. 다른 학교와 마찬가지로 월급을 제공하지 않고 금융적인 도움을 주지는 않습니다. 그러나 UNC의 Kathrine R. Everett Law Library 을 이용할 수 있고 교수의 허락하에 UNC채플힐 캠퍼스의 수업을 청강할 수 있는 기회를 제공합니다. 연구를 위한 방을 제공하지는 않지만 조그마한 공간인 carrel과 locker space가 주어질 수는 있습니다.
그럼 UNC Chapel Hill Law School 방문학자 프로그램에 지원하기 위한 조건들을 안내해드리겠습니다. 이런 지원은 원하는 방문시기 5개월전에는 시작을 하여야 합니다.
· A statement of objectives and outline of a research plan, not to exceed 500 words.
· A current curriculum vitae or resume, including publication record.
· The specific dates of the intended visit (mm/dd/yyyy).
· Two letters of recommendation from those qualified to speak to scholarly and academic achievements.
· The sources and amounts of funding (upon acceptance as a research scholar, for the final stage of the visa process, this documentation has to be the original, signed document), either mailed directly to UNC Law or uploaded via our Secure Document Upload.
· For applicants whose native language is not English, TOEFL scores of at least 560 on the paper test and 220 on the computer test are required.
· A list of any and all family members who may accompany the visiting scholar and a photocopy of the visiting research scholar's passport photo page and each traveler's passport photo page.
· Fill out and returnVisiting Scholar Agreement form.
· DS-2019 II - Personal Information Form
· Fill out and return Release of Liability form.
