안녕하세요, 반달곰원장입니다.
반달곰원장이 3월 영국 런던출장시에 세계 탑랭킹 비즈니스스쿨인 런던비즈니스스쿨 London Business School LBS를 방문하였었습니다. 워낙 바쁘다보니 이제서야 그 방문한 이야기를 올리네요. 셜록홈즈의 집이 있는 Bajer Street 에서 가깝고 Boating Lake 옆에 위치한 런던비즈니스스쿨은 모든 탑 MBA를 희망하는 학생들의 로망중의 하나입니다. LBS를 위키피디아가 간단하게 설명을 아래와 같이 하고 있는데 가슴에 와 닿습니다.
The London Business School (LBS) is an international business school founded in 1964 in London (United Kingdom). LBS is one of the most prestigious business schools in the world; the school is ranked 1st in Europe by the Financial Times and 1st in the world by the QS ranking. The admission process is extremely competitive and the number of places are limited due to the small size of the campus. The main competitors of LBS in Europe are INSEAD and IE Business School, and in the rest of the world its peer schools are Harvard Business School, Stanford, and Wharton.
LBS는 1964년 런던에 설립된 인터네셔널 비즈니스스쿨입니다. LBS는 세계에서 가장 권위있는 비즈니스스쿨중의 하나입니다. 파이내셜타임지에서 유럽 1위 비즈니스스쿨로, 그리고 QS ranking에서는 세계에서 1위 비즈니스스쿨로 선정되었습니다. 입학과정은 매우 경쟁이 치열한데 그것은 학교 캠퍼스규모가 작아서 입학정원에 한계가 있기 떼문입니다. 유럽에서 LBS의 주 경쟁학교는 INSEAD와 IE Business Schoo이고 나머지 세계에서는 하버드대학교, 스탠포드, 와튼정도가 경쟁상대입니다.

다른 장점들도 많지만 제일 눈에 팍 들어오는 것은 LBS MBA의92% 학생은 UK출신이 아니라 다른 나라에서 온 국제학생이라는 것입니다. 이 점이 바로 하버드나 스탠포드 와튼하고 다른 부분이라고 할 수 있겠습니다. 국제적으로 다양한 학생들이, 그것도 최고의 엘리트들이 같이 공부하고 자기나라로 돌아간다면 그로 인하여 생기는 글로벌 네트웍은 어마어마한 파워를 가질 것입니다.
그럼 LBS MBA에 지원하기 위해서는 무엇이 필요할까요?
물론 탑 MBA이므로 높은 GMAT점수가 필요하겠지요. 그러나 공식적으로는 GMAT은 평가요소중의 하나일뿐이라고 이야기를 합니다. 다른 경력이 좋은데 GMAT이 조금 아쉬운 660 점대일 경우 어떻게 할까요? 다른 경력이나 학교, 그리고 자신만이 가지고 있는 장점이 있다고 할 경우에는 도전해보는 것입니다. 미리 GMAT평균 점수를 보고 좌절하거나 그럴 필요는 없습니다.
LBS MBA의 학비는 70800유로입니다. 한화로는 1억 천6백만원이 넘는 금액입니다. LBS MBA를 가기 위해서는 좋은 경력, 좋은 GMAT, 훌륭한 영어점수외에 가장 중요한 머니가 많아야 합니다. 이런 것들이 준비가 되어야 최고의 명문비즈니스스쿨에 입학이 가능합니다. 2016년도 학기는 8월 15일 시작한다고 합니다. 그리고 2017학년도 입학을 위한 1라운드 지원서 마감은 9월중에 있습니다. 이제 3개월정도 남았으니 잘 준비해주시길 바라겠습니다. 마지막 4라운드 지원은 2017년 4월에 있습니다.
