안녕하세요, 반달곰원장입니다.

오늘 반달곰원장은 미국 LA로 날아갑니다. 2017년 6월 엘에이를 발문했을때 운좋게도 류현진의 선발투수 게임을 관람했었습니다. 그런데 그 때 류현진은 7이닝 4실점 하고 패전투수가 되었지요. 그랬던 류현진이 올해 놀라운 성적을 보여주고 있어서 다시 한번 그 경기를 보고 싶은 마음입니다. 방문시절 LA다저스 게임만 본 것은 아니고 엘에이의 명문주립대학교인 UCLA의 Aderson School of Management도 방문하였었습니다.

UCLA 캠퍼스 방문은 처음이었는데 USC를 몇번 방문한 것에 비하면 너무 게을렀던 것 같습니다. 시내에서 조금 떨어져 있다고 가기를 주저했던 것이지요. UCLA캠퍼스를 방문하면 전반적인 분위기를 느낄 수 있는데 옅은 주황색 벽돌로 지어진 건물들이 상당히 편안한 느낌을 줍니다. 바로 그 UCLA의 Anderson MBA에서 2020년도 신입생 선발을 위한 입학지원일정을 오픈하였습니다.

라운드1의 마감일은 10월 2일이고 라운드 2의 마감일은 1월 8일입니다. 마지막 라운드 3의 마감일은 4월 16일인데 거의 전형적인 명문대학교 입학지원일정이니다. 10월부터 4월 중순까지 6개월에 걸친 입학지원이니 준비를 잘 하셔서 좋은 결과를 만드시길 바라겠습니다. 입학지원조건을 살펴보면 아래와 같습니다.

Online Application: The application fee is $200.

Four-year Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent

GMAT/GRE

No minimum GMAT score is required, and the Admissions Committee has the flexibility to consider all scores in the context of your overall academic preparation and management potential.

Work Experience

Although the majority of our students do have full-time work experience, early career and college senior prospective students may still apply.

Recommendations

New applicants are required to submit two recommendations.

Essays

a) Tell us about your MBA goals AND why you are applying to UCLA Anderson now:

Describe your short term and long term goals (150 words maximum)

Why is UCLA Anderson a good school for you? (150 words maximum)

b) At Anderson, we believe our students are engaged, courageous, humble, and open. Describe a time when you demonstrated one of these traits in your personal life. (250 words maximum)

c) Optional: Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions committee should be aware. (250 words maximum)

Interviews

Interviews are conducted on an invitation basis only after submitted applications are reviewed.

TOEFL / IELTS

Your IELTS Academic overall band score should be at least 7.0.  7.0 is the minimum required. 

Your TOEFL score on the paper and pencil test must be at least 560 or at least 87 on the internet-based test.

위의 조건을 살펴보면 GMAT, GRE의 최소 점수조건은 없습니다. 그리고 영어는 IELTS 7.0, 그리고 IBT는 87점 이상을 요구하고 있으므로 토플점수에 문제가 있는 분들은 고려해볼만 한 MBA인 것 같습니다. 그럼 어떤 수준의 학생이, 학생 구성은 어띠되는지 살펴보겠습니다.

UCLA Anderson MBA의 여학생의 비율은 34%입니다. 국제학생의 비율도 33%인데 반달곰원장이 예상한 것보다는 낮은 것 같습니다. 학생들의 80%의 GPA는 3.2-3.8 이고 평균GMAT성적은 719점입니다. 80%의 학생의 GMAT점수는 680-750점 사이입니다. 작년에 2817명이 지원해서 360명을 선발하였습니다. 경쟁율이 상당히 높은 것을 알 수가 있습니다.
