iCAMP-A is an interdisciplinary research & development collaboration led by Bijan Najafi, PhD, between a host of productive, exciting, creative teams-- from Podiatric & Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics, Nursing, Geriatrics, Anthropology and Engineering at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, Department of Surgery,Division of Vascular Surgery.
iCAMP brings together a core team of clinicians, research scientists and biomedical engineers along with dedicated resources/infrastructure. The team shares a common vision to advance objective, innovative and practical interventions coupled with outcomes evaluation using human motion assessment in many unique areas of clinical medicine. These include:

Our research involves bio-instrumentation based on advanced wired or wireless capabilities for characterizing human motion performance in activities of daily living especially in patient’s natural environment where they are most comfortable and active. Using body worn sensors (or wearable sensor technologies) along with ancillary technologies such as virtual reality, thermal imaging, and artificial intelligence, our team employs smart signal processing to identify physical activity patterns, spatio-temporal parameters of gait, balance, and three dimensional joint kinematics and kinetics. Our team has developed and validated several novel metrics to define disease state, assess motor learning and determine biomechanical variabilities by extracting most relevant information from human motion.
iCAMP aims to enhance patient care as well as function, mobility and quality of life through increased emphasis on screening, diagnosis and prevention using simple and robust tools for human motion assessment. In addition to our local research initiatives, we partner with a host of businesses, analysts, and research teams worldwide to foster advances in the field of motion performance.
의학전문용어가 많아서 어렵지만은 방문학자 프로그램에 대한 컨셉은 같습니다. 아리조나대학교 Salsa iCamp 로 방문학자로 가실려면 제일 먼저 영문이력서와 어떤 연구를 할 것인지에 대한 1-2페이지의 간략하면서 핵심적인 연구계획서를 제출해야 합니다. 이 연구계획서와 레쥬메를 가지고 학교에 연락하여 방문학자 프로그램으로 초첮ㅇ받기를 원한다고 이야기하면 그에 대해서 평가하고 초청여부를 결정하게 됩니다.
이렇게 해서 초청이 결정되면 방문학자들은 가족들의 여권사본과 본인의 여권사본, 그리고 영움 ㄴ은행잔고증명서나 영문회사재정증명서등 서류를 꾸며서 학교에 보내게 됩니다. 학교에서 그 서류를 가지고 입학허가서인 DS2019 작업을 하게 됩니다. 물룬 영어점수를 요구하는 경우도 있고 인터뷰를 요구하는 경우도 있습니다.
이렇게 열심히 지원해서 입학허가서 DS2019 받은 이후에는 J비자 준비를 하여 비자 받고 출국을 하면 됩니다. 아리조나대학교 방문학자로 가게되면 학교에서는 방문학자에게 아래와 같은 혜택을 제공한다고 합니다.
Visiting scholars who are visiting for longer than 30 days enjoy: (a) library privileges identical with those of the faculty; (b) the privilege of auditing classes without fee or record, as space allows; (c) the privilege of attending and taking part in seminars; and (d) the use of laboratory and other space and facilities to the extent they are available. In addition, Visiting Scholars may purchase faculty and parking permits and tickets to Artist Series events at faculty rates.
솔직히 아리조나대학교 방문학자만 특별하게 받는 혜택은 아니고 일반적인 혜택입니다. 도서관에서 공부하고 교수님들과 서로 미팅하여 아카데믹한 교류를 할 수 있도 해주고 수업을 청강하고 세미나나 컨퍼런스같은 것에 참석할 수가 있습니다. 이런 방문학자 프로그램이 의사선생님들에게는 많이 오픈되어 있지는 않지만 여기는 한번 도전해볼만한 학교인 것 같습니다. 아리조나대학교 방문학자프로그램에 도전하고 싶은 분은 반달곰원장에게 문의하시길 바랍니다.
