이탈리아 패션 스쿨인 Polimoda의 패션 디자인부문의 석사 프로그램 중 오늘은 Collection Design과정에 대해서 알아보겠습니다.
컬렉션 디자인은 모든 테크니컬 스킬을 숙련하여 패션 디자이너를 발전시키는데 효과적인 프로그램으로 완전한 패션과 잘 완성된 상품화가 가능한 확실한 컬렉션을 만드는 과정입니다.
컬렉션은 클래식, 캐주얼, 길거리 패션과 다른 범주에서 산업화를 위한 준비로 단편적인 것의 궁극적인 표현을 위해 독창적인 방법으로 제시됩니다.
컬렉션 디자인은 네 개의 경계 구역으로 구성되는데 아래와 같습니다.
Craft: the acquirement of cultural and technical skills.
Design: the research and conception of the collection.
Development: the creation, fashioning and finishing of the garments.
Presentation: the exhibition of a personal portfolio and public performance of the collection.
문화와 기술적 스킬을 습득하는 크래프트, 컬렉션 연구와 개념을 확립하는 디자인, 의복 제작, 패션닝과 마감의 개발, 개인 포트폴리오의 전시와 컬렉션의 대중 공개의 발표가 그것입니다.
이 집중 전문화 코스는 산업계 상주 교사와 국제 게스트들이 가르치며, 생산 현장의 견학, 재단 테크닉에 관한 워크숍, 드레이핑, 패턴제작과 프린팅, 마스터 장인과의 지속적인 팀워크 및 외부 업체와의 특수 응용 프로젝트, 인턴쉽 기회 등이 포함됩니다.
수업은 1월부터 9월까지 진행되며, 총 수업 시간은 700시간입니다. 전체 80학점을 얻을 수 있는 패션 회사의 인턴쉽으로 코스를 마칠 수 있습니다.
영어 실력 및 출석은 아주 중요합니다. 지원자는 등록질문지, 포트폴리오 평가와 인터뷰를 통해 선발되며, 추가적인 필수 자격 조건으로 패션에 관한 사전 코스나 전문 경력으로 패션 디자인과 관련된 분야에서 공부한 경험이 포함되어 있습니다. 석사를 마치자 마자 학생들은 자동적으로 Polimoda Talent 프로그램에 참여할 기회가 주어집니다.
9개월의 석사 과정으로 학비는 28,000 Euro입니다. 코스 커리큘럼은 아래와 같습니다.
Contemporary Fashion
Industry, players, calendars, key designers, iconic collections and products by
concept, art & fashion, shows and performances.
Textile Science
Yarns, fabrics and treatments, the alphabet and grammar of a fashion item,
theory and practice of raw materials, elements of knitwear.
Fashion Trend Lab
Colour theory and practice, trend design research and development, mood board
creation, application of the trend to fashion design & technology.
Fashion Design
Fashion and academic drawing, illustration, figurine, body and space,
collection design, an applied project with a company, personal collection.
Fashion Technology
Pattern design and making, draping, cutting and sewing, prototyping, print and
embroidery techniques, menswear tailoring, open laboratory.
Fashion Development
Product development, materials procurement, elements of merchandising, fashion
studio management, line planning, product industrialisation.
Graphic Design
Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, iconic image creation, elements of
typography, personal portfolio, CAD design, 3D design & printing, textile design.
Product Communication
Show, performance, installation, lookbook, presentation techniques, b2b and b2c
presentation materials, elements of styling.
Fashion
Accessories
Fetish research and iconography, material driven design, small jewellery and
metal goods, luxury, small leather goods and bags.
이 마스터 과정을 성공적으로 마치면 학생들은 다음과 같은 스킬 및 결과물을 얻을 수 있습니다.
- Formalize a personal research methodology, envision and produce creative content that informs their own creative design and expresses their design identity.
- Develop merchandising plans and further explore the viability of their designs through different product categories.
- Manage all strategic levers, including pricing, positioning, range, targeting and communication.
- Work within a brand’s or brief’s framework.
- Create a professional portfolio that fully represents the individual characteristics and identity of the designer.
석사 과정에 지원하기 위해서는 대학졸업 증명서나 관련 산업에서 최소한 2년 이상의 직장 경력을 증명해야 합니다. 입학 신청 마감은 코스가 시작하는 달에서 최소한 2개월 이전에 신청해야 하며, 지원 절차는 온라인으로 등록 질의서를 작성 제출하고 코스 담당 선생님과 인터뷰를 잡아야 합니다. 폴리모다에서 합격했다는 소식을 받으면 학비 지불 절차에 들어가며, 비자 신청에 필요한 서류 준비를 하게 됩니다.
Polimoda는 Eduservices라는 곳과 협력해서 학생들의 비자, Declaration of presence, 의료보험, 은행계좌 개설, 텍스 코드 등의 업무를 도와주고 있습니다. 장기 프로그램에 공부하는 학생은 반드시 학생 비자를 받아야 하는데, 거주하는 나라의 이탈리아 영사관에 가서 발급 신청을 해야 합니다. 다른 나라 비자 신청할 때 필요한 서류 준비하듯이 챙기면 되는데요. 유학 비자도 어떤 과정에 가는지에 따라 준비할 서류가 다르기 때문에 꼼꼼히 확인하시려면 주한이탈리아 대사관의 홈페이지에 방문하면 비자 정보를 확인해보는 게 좋습니다.
