덴마크는 유럽에서도 워라밸이 최고 수준으로 가능한 나라로 손꼽히는 나라입니다. 워라밸은 Work-Life Balance를 줄여서 요즘엔 시기적으로 한국에서도 많이 사용되는 민감한 단어입니다. 주당 52시간 노동 시간 단축이 곧 시행을 앞두고 있는 시점에서 개인의 소득 감소나 기업의 경영상 부담 등이 없는 진정한 워라밸이 우리나라에서도 곧 이루어졌으면 하는 바램입니다.
덴마크에서의 삶 역시 완벽하지 않겠지만, work-life balance에 관한 최근 설문 조사를 믿는다면, 덴마크에서의 학업 및 앞으로의 미래를 꿈꾸는데 이보다 더 좋은 나라는 없을듯 합니다.
오늘 소개할 대학은 덴마크 남부 지방에 위치한 University of Southern Denmark로 USD는 약 27000명의 학생과 4천명의 교직원이 있습니다. 주 캠퍼스는 오덴세(Odense)에 위치하며, 나머지 캠퍼스는 Kolding, Esbjerg, 코펜하겐, Sonderborg(Jultand), Slagelse(Zealand) 시티에 있어 총 6개의 캠퍼스를 가지고 있습니다.
이 대학은 1998년 여러 개의 대학이 합병해서 만들어진 신생 대학으로 Odense University, Southern Denmark School of Business and Engineering and South Jutland University Center가 포함됩니다. 2006년에는 Odense University College of Engineering이 USD에 합병되면서 Faculty of Engineering이 되었으며, 2007년에는 National Institute of Public Health(NIPH)와 Business School Center in Slagelse가 USD에 합병하나 NIPH는 국립 공중 보건 연구소로 여전이 남아 코펜하겐에 있고, Business School Center의 경우 슬라겔세(Slagels)의 SDU 캠퍼스로 Faculty of Business and Social Science의 부서가 되었습니다.
그래서 USD는 여러 단과대학으로 이루어진 종합대학이 되었으며, 다섯 개의 Faculty로 구성되어 있습니다.

학사 과정에 입학하기 위해서는 덴마크인이 아닌 경우, 3월 15일에 있는 자격 시험을 봐야 합니다. 입학 신청은 온라인으로 진행되며, 모든 입학 지원 자격을 갖췄다면, 시험과 인터뷰에 초대됩니다. 비유럽계 학생의 경우 5월이면 합격 혹은 불합격 공지를 받게 되며, 함께 비자 발급에 대한 안내도 받게 됩니다. 합격한 비유럽계 학생의 경우 학비는 7월 1일까지 납부해야 하며, 9월부터 학업에 들어갑니다.
SDU의 학부 영어 프로그램에 입학하기 위해서 필요한 영어 실력은 공인 영어 성적으로 다음과 같은 점수 이상을 만들어야 합니다.
· TOEFL iBt test with a minimum score of 88
· IELTS academic test with a minimum overall band score of 6.5
· CAE with a minimum result of C, or the CPE (the CAE or CPE are only accepted from a Cambridge Network or from University of Michigan) - Please send the test candidate's ID number (e.g. EPA123456) and the candidate's secret number (4 digits). You will find these on the Confirmation of Entry forwarded by the test center
만약 지원하는 프로그램에서 높은 수준의 영어 실력을 요구한다면, 가령 Danish: English A라고 명시한다면, TOEFL로는 100점 이상, IELTS로는 최소 7.0 이상은 준비가 되어야 합니다.
학부과정을 온라인 지원하면서 첨부해야 하는 서류는 영어 성적을 포함해서 아래와 같습니다.
· School record/transcript and final diploma in native and English version if you have graduated from high school, or a transcript of records if you first finish school in summer 2017
· The document Statement of hours if needed - check the list of International School leaving examinations
· Any supplementary material, i.e. English language certificates, university studies etc.
· NON-EU applicants (except applicants from the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or Great Britain) MUST submit a TOEFL iBT test min. score 88 or an IELTS test min. score 6.5 overall band.
· A motivated application if it is stated under the entry requirements of the programme you are applying for
· Residence permit or visa documents
· A pre-assessment if you have received one during the last year or an application for exemption (remember to include all relevant documents)
· You DO NOT have to add statements from your former employers, diploma from a folk high school etc. since these documents will not be assessed, unless you apply for exemption of the specific entry requirement
고등학교 졸업/성적증명서, Statement of Hours, 공인영어성적, 유학계획서 등이 지원하기 전에 꼭 필요한 준비물이라는 것을 확인할 수 있습니다.
Master 프로그램의 경우 공학, 인문, 과학, 비즈니스와 사회 과학, 공중보건 부분에서 학부 과정보다는 더 많은 옵션 중 선택할 수 있습니다. 다 열거할 수 없으니 Business and Social Sciences 분야만 제공되는 석사학위 과정을 나열해보겠습니다.

SDU 석사 과정에 지원하기 위해서는 당연하겠지만 학사 학위가 필요합니다. 특정 요구 조건은 각 전공에 세부 명시되어 있기 때문에 반드시 사전에 확인해야 합니다.
석사의 경우는 9월 입학과 2월 입학이 있습니다. 학사 학위가 반드시 프로그램 시작 전까지 완료되어야 하는데, 비유럽계 학생의 경우 비자를 받아야 하는 문제로 일찍 지원해야 합니다.
덴마크에서 학사 학위를 했다면, 영어 성적은 제출할 필요가 없지만, 그렇지 않은 경우라면, 다음 아래와 같은 방법으로 영어 능력을 증명해야 합니다.
- A Danish high school diploma with English B.
- A Danish Professional Bachelor’s degree taught entirely in English - if the language of instruction is not clearly stated in your diploma supplement, please have your school confirm it in writing.
- A diploma from a European high school may be enough to prove your proficiency. You need to document the number of English lessons per week (60 min. lessons), number of weeks per school year and the number of years you have attended high school. You must use SDU's Statement of Hours, which must be signed and stamped by the high school. You must submit both your full high school diploma as well as the statement of Hours. We encourage you to forward your documents in advance via the contact form SPOC. Then we are able to make a pre-assessment.
- A language test – IELTS 6.5 이상 혹은 TOEFL 88 이상 혹은 CAE (C이상)
원칙적으로 덴마크에서 취득한 석사 학위가 있다면, USD에서 또다른 석사학위 과정에 입학할 수 없습니다. 학위를 받은지 6개월 전이나 국가 장학금을 받아 공부했다면, 더더욱 다른 석사과정에 들어갈 수 없지만, 다행히 여러 예외 사항을 두는데요. 건강상의 이유로 가지고 있는 학위가 취업 시장에서 사용할 수 없을 때와 학위 과정이 사라져 취업 시장에서 최소 5년 동안 쓸모 없었다면, 가능합니다. 그리고, 특별히 취업 시장에서 직업 부족군에 속하는 과정이라면, 이 역시 예외를 두고 있습니다. 이 과정에는 전기 에너지 기술, 컴퓨터 과학, 수학, 수학-경제학, 회계학 등이 있습니다.
만약 경제학 석사 학위에 지원한다면, 다음의 준비물이 필요합니다.
· You graduate diploma, including a transcript of records.
· Proof of any supplementary courses you might have passed.
· Motivational letter.
· Proof of your English proficiency
· Course description for each of course on your bachelor diploma/transcript.
학비는 비유럽계 학생들은 납부해야 하는데요. Faculty마다 확인이 필요합니다. 학부 및 석사 과정의 경우, 1년 학비가 6,200 EURO ~ 13,900 EURO로 다양합니다.
