오늘도 바쁜 하루가 지나갔는데요, 오늘 만난 학교중에서 가장 기억에 남는 학교는 바로 University of Western Australia(UWA)였습니다. UWA는 호주의 Perth에 있는 대학교로서 호주 명문대학교의 상징인 Group of Eight중의 한 대학교입니다. 1911년 2월 Western Austrian Parliament에 의해서 설립되었고 1913년에 처음으로 학생을 가르치기 시작하였습니다. Western Australia 에서는 가장 오래된 대학교입니다. UWA는 sandstone university라고도 불리기도 합니다.
2015년 QS World University Rankings에서는 UWA를 국제순위 98위에 올려놓았고 상해교통대의 World University랭킹에서는 UWA를 세계 96위에 올려 놓았습니다. 그리고 UWA는 100번째 Rhodes Scholarship 장학생을 배출하였고 한명의 노벨수상자, 그리고 한명의 호주 수상을 배출한 명문대학교입니다.

Admission Requirements
(1) To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(a) a bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA;
and
(b)(i) a valid Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)score, and at least three years of relevant, documented professional experience; or
(ii) a valid GMATscore of at least 650, and at least two years of relevant, documented professional experience;
and
(c) a satisfactory personal statement, as recognised by UWA;
and
(d) two satisfactory references, as recognised by UWA.
(2) Eligible applicants will be short-listed and ranked according to their GMAT score. The highest-ranked candidates will be interviewed.
English competency
위의 조건들을 보면 직장경력을 3년이상을 요구하고 있습니다. 그리고 직장경력이 2년이면 GMAT성적을 650점이상을 요구하고 있습니다. 그리고 영어는 IELTS 7.0에 모든 밴드 6.5이상이어야 합니다. 호주 MBA는 상당히 높은 수준의 영어점수와 GMAT성적을 요구하고 있기에 정말 열심히 준비하여야 합니다.
그리고 중요한 personal statement 에세이는 아래와 같은 질문에 대해서 작성하여야 합니다.

- What are your short-term and long-term career goals and are there particular sectors that you would like to work in? How will an MBA help you to achieve these goals?
- What steps have you already taken to help you achieve these career goals?
- What can you contribute to the MBA cohort and UWA Business School?
- How have you demonstrated leadership in your professional and personal life (provide specific examples)?
각 질문에 대해서 1000단어이내로 만들어서 작성하여야 합니다. UWA 12개월 Intensive MBA의 2017년도 학비는 71000달러입니다. 그러나 UWA MBA에 조건없이 합격된 후보자들은 15000달러의 장학금을 자동적으로 받습니다. 즉, UWA MBA학비는 생각보다는 많지 않은 수준이라고 할 수가 있습니다.
