3일간의 연휴 후유증이 큰 것 같습니다. 쉬다가 나오면 더 피곤하고 더 쉬고 싶은 것이 사람인가 봅니다. 이럴 때 일수록, 정신 바짝 차리고 뛰어야 할 때입니다. 조선업계에서 시작된 구조조정 바람이 어디까지 미칠지는 아무도 모릅니다. 주위의 선배는 IMF가 곧 온다며 집을 내놓고 현금화 해서 기다린 다는 분들도 몇명있더군요. 미래가 어떤 모습일지 모르겠으나 강남의 집값이 정신못차리고 올라가는 것 보면 IMF가 한번 더 올 것 같습니다. 집에다가 10억씩을 깔고 눌러 앉아 사는 것은 왠만해서는 정상적인 삶은 아닌 것은 같습니다. 그것도 대출을 받아서 집을 사서 절반이상은 은행돈이라고 하면. 그러지 않기를 바라지만 제2의 IMF가 밀어 닥칠지도 모르겠다는, 우리나라 사람들의 모럴해저드를 보면 그런 불안감이 생기는 것은 사실입니다. 정신 바짝 차리고 미래를 준비할 때인 것 같습니다.
오늘은 이런 위기감속에 독일의 명문대학교인 Humboldt University of Berlin, HU Berlin이라고 불리우는 명문대학교를 소개해드리겠습니다. HU Berlin은 1810년 10월 15일에 설립된 베를린의 가장 오래된 대학교중의 하나입니다. Prussian 교육개혁자이자 언어학자인 Wilhelm von Humboldt에 의해 University of Berlin이라는 이름으로 세워졌고 1828년 부터는 Fredericl William University라고 알려져 있었습니다. 1949년에야 다시 설립자의 이름을 따서 Humboldt-Universität 이라고 이름을 바꾸었습니다.
HU Berlin은 독일연방정부에서 의해 기획된 전국 대학교 경쟁에서 German Universities Excellence Initiative 라는 명예를 획득한 11개의 대학교중의 하나입니다. 29명의 노벨상 수상자를 배출하였고 arts 와 humanities분야에서 전세계에서 가장 권위있는 대학교중의 하나로 손꼽히고 있습니다. 대표적인 랭킹을 살펴보면 아래와 같습니다.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2014–15 listed Humboldt-University as the 80th best university in the world and 4th best in Germany.
In 2013 QS World University Rankings ranked Humboldt University 126th overall in the world, and 7th in Germany.
Its subject rankings were: 22nd in Arts & Humanities, 184th in Engineering & IT, 123rd in Life Sciences & Biomedicine, 87th in Natural Sciences, and 90th in Social Sciences.
많은 전공들이 영어와 독일어로 진행이 되는데 반달곰원장이 주로 관심을 가지고 보는 비즈니스 전공에는 MBA가 없습니다. 대신 Business Studies 라는 석사과정이 있습니다. 이것은 영어와 독일어 수업이 진행이 됩니다. 학사과정은 전부 독일어로 진행되고 있으므로 독일어 능력이 매우 중요합니다. 그리고 석사과정도 마찬가지로 독일어 능력이 중요합니다.
독일대학교, 특히 공립대학교들은 독일어 수업이 많습니다. 이런 국립대학교들은 학비가 무료이기에 독일어와 학교에서 요구하는 사항들을 잘 준비하면 학비 부담없이 독일 최고의 대학교에서 공부를 할 수가 있습니다. HU Berlin의 입학지원을 위한 서류는 아래와 같습니다.
1. Please note that an application cannot be considered unless UNI-ASSIST has received all the required documentation within the prescribed period.
The following documents must be attached to an application:
authenticated copies of educational certificates obtained so far, including the secondary school leaving certificate together with marks received and, if applicable, university entrance examination documentation, evidence of study areas and grades obtained in previous studies, or graduation certificate;
enrolment certificate, if you are a student at another German or European higher education institution at the time you apply for a place at Humboldt, or
certificate of exmatriculation (Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung) specifying the areas of study if you have previously studied at another higher education institution in Germany, EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein or Switzerland;
evidence of German language skills
German translations of all certificates (exception: documents in English);
CV starting with the beginning of school education up till now;
a current passport-sized photo;
the UNI-ASSIST receipt (proof of fees paid);
a photocopy of your passport (authentication is not required).
