영국의 제 2도시는 바로 버밍엄입니다. 버밍엄에는 유명한 University of Birmingham이 있습니다. 물론 그 안에 Birmingham Business School있어서 그 안에서 많은 종류의 MBA프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다. Full Time MBA, Executive MBA, Overseas MBA, online MBA 등을 제공하고 있습니다.
Full Time MBA는 영어능력이 어떠느냐에 따라서 12개월, 21개월 24개월 과정으로 MBA수업을 들을 수가 있습니다. 12개월MBA, 1년MBA가 기본이나 영어능력이 안되면 그전에 Business Management English Presessional Programme을 들어야 하는데 그 영어실력에 따라서 기간이 21개월도 되고 24개월도 될 수가 있습니다. 21개월 MBA의 경우 시작월은 9월이 아닌 1월입니다. Full Time MBA의 Specialization으로는 아래와 같이 세 분야가 있습니다.
MBA International Business
Develop your ability to perform at the highest level in international business and work closely with businesses in the UK and worldwide on four distinctive and challenging enterprise projects, improving your global awareness
MBA Global Banking and Finance
Guiding you through management and technical skills, and developing you into a broadly knowledgeable professional capable of performing at the top of the international banking and finance industry.
MBA Strategy and Procurement Management
This programme includes professionally oriented modules designed for managers with procurement responsibilities across a range of sectors and industries.
그리고 Executive MBA와 Overseas MBA는 모두 part time MBA입니다. Overseas MBA는 싱가포르에서 제공하고 있는 2.5-4.5년기간의 프로그램인데 파트타임이므로 싱가포르에서 영국MBA를 하실려는 분들에게는 직장다니면서 하기에 좋습니다.
그럼 Birmingham Full Time MBA에 지원하기 위한 조건을 알아보도록 하겠습니다.
Your application should include:
A completed application form
Evidence of minimum period of work experience – the submission of your resume/CV is compulsory
One academic reference (if unobtainable, two work related references will suffice)
One work related reference
Personal statement - drawing attention to specific aspects of your experience and explaining why you think now is the right time for you to take an MBA. Tell us what you believe you will bring to an MBA and describe how you see the MBA fitting into your future career plans.
All applicants are considered in detail on an individual basis and a Personal statement gives you the opportunity to tell us why you think we should offer you a place on the programme.
New applicants will be asked to supply a copy of their passport as a condition of acceptance to all of our programmes.

그리고 영어능력이 중요한데 영어점수에 따라서 Full Time MBA의 기간이 달라집니다.
English language requirements:
- 12-month MBA – IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.5 in any band); TOEFL IBT 95 (with no less than 22 in any band); Pearson Academic Test of English 67 (in all four skills).
- 21-month route – IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in any band); TOEFL IBT 88 (21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing); Pearson Academic Test of English 59 (in all four skills).
- 24-month route – IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band); TOEFL IBT 82 (19 in Reading, 19 in Listening, 21 in Speaking and 19 in Writing); Pearson Academic Test of English 51 (in all four skills).
즉, Birmingham MBA의 영어기준은 IELTS 7.0, IBT 95점입니다. 이것이 안되면 점수에 따라서 21개월 24개월간 영어공부+ 비즈니스 공부를 하면 됩니다. 그리고 재미있는 것은 Birmingham MBA의 경우 GMAT점수를 공식적으로 요구하지 않는다는 것입니다. 그러므로 GMAT에 대해서 스트레스받으면서 영어점수는 없지만 공부할 의사가 있는 직장경력 3년이상이신 분들에게는 매우 좋은 프로그램일 수 있습니다. 21개월 24개월 MBA의 경우 직장경력 3년이상을 요구하고 있습니다.
